Social, Emotional, Physical, Cognitive, and Language Development. When it comes to socializing, any form of play allows children to socialize. Symbolic play increases their social skills and creativity. Symbolic play greatly enhances a child's ability to express their emotions which is very important. Children use their imaginations to express their feelings and emotional needs, they also use problem solving skills during symbolic play because they are choosing an everyday object and deciding what they want it to represent. For Physical development, Symbolic play encourages gross and fine motor skills which help children's bodies to grow and develop. Lastly, Symbolic play has been linked to increasing children's Cognitive and Language development skills. When children play outdoors, they tend to play for longer and are far more active versus playing indoors. Outdoor play allows children to exercise their large muscle groups along with enhancing their cardiovascular endurance. Children's exposure to fresh air reduces respiratory infections, the spread of germs and promotes a healthy immune system.
