Symbolic play involves children using objects or toys to represent something else that the child wants or needs for their pretend scenario. Symbolic play can be done with any object or material and the scenarios are all created by the child's imagination. Some examples of Symbolic play include:
-A box becomes a boat
-A kitchen utensil becomes a microphone
-A stick becomes a sword

The inclusion of Symbolic play for PreK children is crucial for their play experiences along with the five developmental domains. Social, Emotional, Physical, Cognitive, and Language Development. When it comes to socializing, any form of play allows children to socialize. Symbolic play increases their social skills and creativity. Symbolic play greatly enhances a child's ability to express their emotions which is very important. Children use their imaginations to express their feelings and emotional needs, they also use problem solving skills during symbolic play because they are choosing an everyday object and deciding what they want it to represent. For Physical development, Symbolic play encourages gross and fine motor skills which help children's bodies to grow and develop. Lastly, Symbolic play has been linked to increasing children's Cognitive and Language development skills. Both Cognitive and Language development skills share similar developmental building blocks which later help to increase these domains.

The inclusion of Outdoor play for PreK children is crucial for their play experiences along with the five developmental domains. Social, Emotional, Physical, Cognitive, and Language Development. Outdoor play supports the development of social and emotional skills because children learn to be patient while waiting their turn at the playground and working with others to play games and build sandcastles. Outdoor play allows children to develop social relationships and conflict resolution skills. Outdoor play strongly supports physical development. When children play outdoors, they tend to play for longer and are far more active versus playing indoors. Outdoor play allows children to exercise their large muscle groups along with enhancing their cardiovascular endurance. Children's exposure to fresh air reduces respiratory infections, the spread of germs and promotes a healthy immune system. Lastly, Outdoor play promotes Cognitive and Language development because they can express themselves, have louder voices, and stretch their abilities.
