1. I read 'This Is a Call: The Life and Times of Dave Grohl', to enjoy this biography you don't need to be interested in the Foo Fighters, Nirvana or even Dave Grohl himself. It's a good book if you want to find out more about the rockstar lifestyle in a comedic, heart warming biography about the 'nicest guy in rock'. The biography describes in detail Foo Fighters lead singer and Nirvana dummer, Dave Grohl's unexpected life of achieving his childhood dream.
2. I prefer to read biographies and autobiographies because I can never seem to be motivated to finish a fictional book.
3. I chose English Language because I enjoyed the subject in GCSE and I wanted to pursue English Langue and I think it will really help with my career in the future.

1. The non-fiction text I last read a Buzzfeed article titled '23 struggles only iPhone users understand'. I found this article to be very relatable, however I don't think all audiences would feel this way. The article is geared towards those that are tech savvy and typically younger that understand the issues surrounding technology. The article also included colloquialisms like 'lol' and 'wtf' which are phrases commonly used by younger people.

2. I enjoy reading Buzzfeed articles or any interviews with my favourite bands as I find it interesting to find out their inspirational figures.

3. I chose English Language as I'm interested in how language is constantly evolving and I love learning new words and extending my vocabulary.

1.One of the most recent non-fiction texts I read was about the Alton towers rollercoaster crash which occurred in June. I found it very shocking since I have previously visited this theme park, which is a very well known and trusted attraction. The review stated some awful injuries that were caused to the teenagers. For example serious leg injuries, which resulted in a 17 year old girl to have her leg amputated. Overall I found this article attention-grabbing because I had heard of the incident however didn't know the full details.

2. I prefer to read magazine articles about celebrities and their lifestyle since I find it much more interesting.

3. I chose English language because it will fit well with my other a level choices depending on what I would take at university.

1. The non-fiction text I last read was a Buzzfeed article named 'What amount of the things you eat and drink everyday would kill you'. I found this article quite useful because it lets you know how harmful some of the things you eat or drink can actually be. I think it's good having articles like this because it really widens your knowledge of the effect of certain things.

2. I prefer reading articles about law or about crime, because I find them much more interesting.

3. I chose English Language because I enjoy how language is changing and also because I feel that it really compliments law.

1. I read an article in Metro entitled "Drinking fizzy drinks ‘may increase chance of cardiac arrest'" I found this article very interesting and informative. There were lots of facts and statistics which made me really believe what it was saying.

2. I like to read fiction mostly, mostly historic novels or action and adventure, but especially classics such as 'Heidi'.

3. I chose English language as I find it very interesting and also I want to go into teaching so its very important to have an a level subject that is part of the national curriculum. It was also my best result at GCSE.

I read an article from cosmopolitan called "can coffee correct multiple skin conditions?" It was interesting to see that coffee skin scrubs can actually help stretch marks, eczema and acne. It's the high caffein content that stimulates the blood flow targeting the visible skin conditions.

2. I prefer reading articles about my favourite bands and celebrities and also fashion articles.

3.i chose english language because I find it quite interesting and I enjoy it.

1. I don't read many non - fiction texts but i recently read an article in the Guardian about the body and I personally found it fascinating and found out lots of weird and wonderful facts that I had no idea about, for example there's 7 octillion atoms that make up your body and I found that quite hard to believe. I also think it's a good way of educating people without actually trying too hard. It's an interesting topic and there should be more in depth information about specific genres.

2. I enjoy reading fiction books and stories because i mainly find them more intriguing and entertaining however i don't mind a little bit of non - fiction reading.

3. I decided to take English Language because it's interesting and useful for further notice. I enjoyed it at GCSE so figured it would follow on from that.

The last not fiction artical I read was on cosmopolitan, called 'how to wear the hun'... This was a piece about a new fashion hair style which was brought back from the 80's. The artical covered to ways to wear it, including sheek and messy.

It gave lots of information which was easy for teenages to understand as the text wasn't lengthy. It covered how to master this hair do right from the moment you wash it. As well as giving intructions it gave top tips to help you even more. It also provided picture to see and give more of an understanding of what was happening.

I chose to read this as it is aimed to people around my age and was interesting to know the latest fashion trends.

I chose to do English language as its very interesting to understand and know how we all communicate to each other, yet have different ways of doing it. I also chose it as I want a career in media which English language will help me in

1. The most recent non-fiction article I have read is about a couple in the US, the couple moved into a new house and decided to renovate the kitchen. During the demolition they found a floor safe and they already had the code from when they moved in. When they opened it they were shocked when they saw eight stacks of $100 bills. When the counted it they roughly got $50,00. I found this article to be very interesting but it only made me jealous that I didn't move into that house!

2. I usually enjoy reading pointless fictional things, such as made up facts about fictional movies and games.

1) The most recent non-fiction text that I have read was an article on BBC news titled "Why don't people talk about their dreams?". In the text the writer talks about the differences in the way people communicate and interrupt the dreams they are having. The writing includes several anecdotes of his past dream experiences and of other peoples. After reading the text the main thought he was trying to provoke within the reader is why do people in this modern age not trust the messages/alerts they are being given by their unique dream. Not only was this piece informative but it was also thought provoking, as dreams are an individual thing to everyone to has them. I defiantly enjoyed reading and interacting with this text.

2) I enjoy reading both fiction and non-fiction. However I do not like reading plays. I enjoy reading a novel when I have time but I often find it hard to get involved in the book. So therefore I am more likely to read non-fiction articles as they are quick to read and often very interesting.

3) The main reason I chose to take English Language was because I enjoy analysing texts and finding out the deeper meanings. I also enjoy the aspect of analysing people and the way they choose words

1. The last non-fiction text I read was a newspaper article on the EU referendum. I thought it was interesting to read as the text was very informative. The referendum bill could face multiple attempts from Labour and the Liberal Democrats to delay and rephrase it. It is yet to be decided on when the vote will take place and who will be able to vote. I thought it was particularly interesting that an MP said "leaving the EU could boost the British economy" as many people believe that in fact it could decline greatly.

2. I really enjoy reading thriller and crime novels as I think a gripping book is always pleasurable to read - especially when it's hard to put down.

3. I chose to study English Language because I have a great interest in the subject and an even greater interest after reading the topics covered in the AS and A2 course at St Brendans. It is also a classic qualification meaning it can be used for so many different kinds of jobs and University degrees

1. The last non-fiction text I read was a Buzzfeed article called 'Can you be friends with your ex'. I found this article to be informative and quite relatable as it included a lot of different people's points of views and their personal experiences.

2. I enjoy reading real life stories as they are very interesting and make me think differently. I never feel motivated enough or intrigued enough to finish a fictional book.

1. The last non-fiction text I read was a BBC news online article announcing the release of Banksy's Dismaland show at Weston's Tropicana. As a whole I enjoyed reading the article as it touched upon the controversy that Banksy's work is reowned for however I feel as though it would've been a more interesting read if there was more content on the art itself.

2. As much as I enjoy reading non-fiction texts like Buzzfeed and magazine articles I prefer to read a book that is based on a fictional film like The Hunger Games as I am engaged with the story from the very beginning.

3. I chose to study English Language because not only does it coincide well with History but a lot of the work revolves around essay writing which is a skill I need to improve on.

1. The last piece of non-fiction text I read was an article on Buzzfeed called 'How My Dog Saved Me From Depression.' I was initially interested in this article because I love dogs and was interested in how a bond between an animal and a human could help save someone from something so controlling. I found the article to be a great read because it was so simple, yet still managed to provoke emotion.

2. Although I do enjoy some non-fictional texts, I mostly read crime/thriller novels because I like the mystery and drama of them.

3. I chose to study English Language because I enjoyed it at GCSE level and so thought I would carry it on and learn more about how language changes in society. I also knew it would be a good qualification to have when applying for uni or jobs.

1.The last non-fiction text I read was a film review before going to watch the film later that day in the cinema.

After watching the film, I found that I could relate to what the review had said. It was aimed at people who enjoyed action movies and had high praise for the film itself and the actors / actresses.

It was very informative but didn't give too much of the plot line away. It was a well structure and balanced review voicing different opinions.

2. I enjoy reading more non-fiction information on subjects I find interesting such as film reviews or interviews.

3. I chose to do English Language because I have an interest in the subject and would like to widen my vocabulary.

1. The last non-fiction text I read was 'Why Is Powdered Caffeine Dangerous?' This article spoke about how people are unaware of the dangers of powdered caffeine, especially because they are so used to drinking caffeine-containing beverages like coffee and tea. The statistic that 'one teaspoon of powdered caffeine contains about the same amount of caffeine as 28 cups of regular coffee' is shocking. The article then stated that high doses of caffeine can cause serious side effects. It can increase blood pressure, an erratic heartbeat, and seizures. It said that two teaspoons of powdered caffeine would kill most adults. In 2014, two young adults aged 18 and 24 died from accidental overdoses of powdered caffeine. We think that caffeine is completely harmless but this article made me realise that something a lot of us consume on a daily basis or when we are ill, can actually threaten our lives if we do not take in moderation.

2. I always seem to enjoy romantic or drama books the most, but I have read a variety of books with different genres. I am also fond of articles about the human mind because I want to understand how people work and why we do things differently to others.

3. I chose English Language because it was one of my favourite subjects in school and looking at the curriculum I knew I would enjoy it.

The most recent non-fiction text that I have written about would probably be an article which I had found whilst browsing Facebook. Despite not being able to find the article on the web right now - I believe I can still write a review on this subject matter. It begun telling us, the reader, the devastating news that what was once illegal to hunt in the wild due to it being an endangered species, was now legal. The hunting of various endangered species of gray wolf. Though hunting of wolves has been legal since 2009 in most states, endangered wolf species were not allowed to be hunted for prize, this is simply because they could easily become extinct in just a few years of being hunted. But what has been released as legal in just one state, has the chance to become legal in many others - the hunting of all of these species of rare gray wolf. Many canine lovers, animal lovers, nature lovers and all alike are very very upset about this, and animal activists and protection parties are trying their hardest to stop this nonsense.

I prefer to read fictional text, but if there is non-fiction texts including something which I am interested in - such as videogames, artists which I like, animals or anything from 'fandoms' which I belong to. A fandom is something usually online, a group of people which like or enjoy the same subject.

I chose English Language because I enjoy the subject and love to write, especially about things which I like a lot. So writing about articles and ect may have been a good choice for me.

1. The last non fiction book that I read was Lewis Hamiltons autobiography. It explained how he was able to become a professional Formula 1 racer. I found the autobiography very intriguing because i find racing really easy to watch.

The last non fiction text I read was an article on the BBC News website titled "Aphantasia: A life without mental images" which was a very interesting and informative article. The article described the life of a man named Neil Kenmuir who cannot see pictures in his head, something called our "mind's eye." It really made me wonder what life would be like if I couldn't remember what my friends or family looked like or I couldn't imagine scenes in books. The article also includes an Aphantasia test, the results of which I found very interesting.
