During the War of 1812, Francis Cabot Lowell built a new textile mill. This textile mill was created in Waltham Massachusetts, it had all the machines needed to turn raw cotton into finished cloth. After Lowell died his partners let Lowell girls run the mill. Investors would often invest in factories and hire workers to operate machines. The work these people did was ruff and very dangerous. Factories workers had 12 hour shifts and had to work for 6 days of the week. The only day they had off was Sunday to go to church or even shopping. The capitalists would also hire children to work in the factories they invested in. They hired children due to the fact that normal men can fit into tiny gaps. If a machine doesn't work and an adult can't reach to fix it then a child needs to. Children and women didn't get paid as much as men.

Investors paid workers to operate machines and work in factories. To make products factories needed laborer's, raw materials, and raw power. Textile Mills often were placed near a river in order to have water as energy. This energy mostly was used to power large machines that were in the Mills. Francis Cabot Lowell created a textile mill in massachusetts, Mosses Brown created a textile mill in Rhode Island, and Samuel Slater also created a textile mill in Rhode Island. These Mills were Manley focused on spinning and weaving along with making cloth. These factories and mills made it easier to produce goods even if the quality wasn't as good, more products were still being made.

The spinning Jenny was created by James Hargreaves in 1764-1765. The spinning Jenny was created in order to spin multiply threads at once. Before this invention people had to spin thread one at a time. Then this invention came along and made the process of spinning thread a whole lot easier. The SPinning Jenny increased the production speed and the amount of thread created which was something that helped early thread weavers.

Interchangeable parts 1798

Interchangeable parts was invented by Eli Whitney. Interchangeable parts was invented because "Whitney wanted to speed up the making of guns by having machines manufacture each part. All machine-made parts would be alike-for example, one trigger would be identical to another. Identical parts were built to fit all together, and gunsmiths wouldn't have to build each gun from scratch." Also "In 1798, Whitney began producing muskets in the first factory to rely on interchangeable parts. The idea of interchangeable parts spread rapidly. Inventors designed machines to produce interchangeable parts for clocks, locks, and many other goods. With such machines, small workshops grew into factories." Interchangeable also helped in the farming industry because they helped Jethro Wood create the iron plow. This showed that Interchangeable Parts made assembling clocks, guns, etc easier .
