(Ávila, 1548 - Madrid, 1611) Spanish composer and organist. The music of Tomás Luis de Victoria transcends the borders of the polyphonic Renaissance, its balance and purity, to announce the baroque expression.
Entered in the Collegium Germanicum, in 1575 he received the priestly ordination, and three years later he entered the Congregation of the Oratory, in 1587 he returned to Spain, where, under the protection of Felipe II, he was named chaplain and chapel teacher of the convent of The Royal Barefoot where he wrote the mayority of his compositions.
