Spies were used for various reasons during the Civil War. Spies were used to give information back to there troops, they had to camouflage with the rival troops. They would wear clothes from the other troops. Spies wore these clothes in order to get enough information, ask questions, look at notes, study the maps, find out what their next move would be and where they will go next to defeat the other trop. But today is different spying has changed towards the course of the year. Today we have technology to help us you search one thing and a bunch of stuff pop up for you to look at and research to. Spies now use technology to crack cases police, scientist, and investigators use technology as well. Technology has improved throughout the years and has helped spies/investigadors crack cases more easily than in the past.

Rose O'Neal Greenhow also known as "Wild Rose" she was born in 1815 in Maryland. She was a spy during the Civil War at that time she was one of the incredible Civil War women spies. She started her own spy ring in July 1861 her enemy's capital and also helped the confederacy by using information she gathered. Rose was an orphan who was soon living with her aunt in Washington D.C. She soon got married and stayed in Washington D.C with her husband. In 1862 she worked at the Unofficial Confederate in England. Rose was able to pin in a coded message through out her courier. Rose went to prison, while she was in prison she would still gather information. After she was released, they moved her to the South where there she ran the Unofficial Confederate in Europe. Rose also had a daughter her name was Florence Greenhow Moore. On October 1, 1864 Rose was returning from America her boat sank underground she was thinking of going on a small boat and finding shore but the small boats sank as well. She later died from drowning.

Women during the Civil War would often work helping the men. They were nurses they gave food to them and they were also spies. Men didn't work as spies as much as women at that time men mostly helped in the military and fight battles and prepare for battles too. Women had a big role during the Civil War they helped with the Civil War telling them where to go and what to do next.

Spies are important because they shared information and not just that it was a dangerous task to do and if they were caught they could have gotten punished or could have been band and couldn't get the information they needed to get. Spies like Rose gather information like maps, notes, poems and much more it could take days or weeks in order to find what is there next move what are they planning to do next. But when spies started getting more information more faster and could go up to them and ask them a question they could answer it because the other troop won't now from what troop they are working for.

Men didn't expect women to get such a dangerous job but women were perfect for this job because they were well trusted. They were also viewed as non-threatening by the soldiers. There beauty was a distraction to the soldiers and women could easily get information from them.

Excellent work Sofia - you used particular examples related to your topic with supporting details and clear evidence of research. This is well-organized and shows consequence well (the contrast between spies back then and spies today is the mark of good historical research writing - keep it up!) Next time add a bit more to the Cause part of history to show how the Civil War began/why spies were necessary along with a primary source. Keep up the great work!
I5O6C4P6 - 36
