This novel tells the harrowing tale of a ten year old girl named Annmarie and her family as they help her Jewish friend and her family escape from Nazi occupied Denmark to Sweden during the midst of World War II. This story is about the life of a china rabbit doll that is loved by a 10-year-old girl named Abilene. Edward, the china rabbit doll, doesn’t care about being loved until he is accidentally lost by being thrown overboard a large ship into the ocean. He then spends years being passed from bad situation to worse, although discovering his desire to love and be loved along the way. Then as fate would have it, he is found by a much older Abilene doll shopping for her daughter. It is very valuable to children's literature in that it teaches children the importance of love, and lets them experience life in less than ideal situations. The theme of love is mostly noticed immediately after Edward loses it as he is thrown overboard. It slowly gained back as the story goes on, only to be lost after the tragic death of Sarah Ruth. The novel is a collection of short stories about a super hero named Mister Invincible. He is blessed with the power of being able to see and manipulate the past and future by moving through the comic strips. He uses these powers to fight several unique super villains, some of whom possess similar powers, all while being a good neighbor. It is valuable to literature because it is a creative way to keep young readers engaged. It also embodies the theme because Mister Invincible has several friends who help him out while he is on his adventures.

The text embodies the theme with David being forgiven for breaking the vase after he goes to time out. This has value to children's literature because it shows how adults, even well intentioned ones, can be wrong and condescending. Each day the daughter takes a little bite until after awhile the mooncake was completely gone. This is a peaceful and enjoyable read with a positive theme that makes it valuable to children's literature. By not eating lima beans she began to grow stripes and as doctors made repeated attempts to fix her she just kept getting worse. Eventually, once all hope was thought lost, a wise old lady gave her some lima beans and she returned back to normal and never refused them again. This story is very enjoyable to read and teaches children that you shouldn't behave a certain way just because your peers do. He talks about how even if the bigger fish finds out his hat is stolen, he won’t know who took it or where to find them. He says he knows it’s wrong to steal but he has no regrets. He hides but the bigger fish finds him and takes his hat back. This story is enjoyable and teaches children what can happen when they do bad things on purpose. The theme of consequence shows up heavily at the end when we see the bigger fish swimming with his hat back.
