It is hosted on Scratch and runs on a heavily modified, cut-down version of JavaScript, with some versions being ported to .EXE, overall, the OS is in a very messy state and will soon be updated.

This is why I am proud to announce that the new version of SimplOS, Beta 1.0, will be built as an Unix-based application!

With better performance, and higher functionality, Unix is a much better way to run the system. It will be compiled and self-contained within a Scratch 2.0 assembly (JavaScript (With modified elements to make it more Unix-like)). SimplOS has had it's three-year-anniversary a week ago, and now it has had it's first Beat release, let's go over what's happened!

SimplOS Beta 1.0 is a complete re-write of the system, now made with performance in mind. Running on a mofified Java/Unix mesh with a little hint of Flash, the application runs very well as a compiled source and also in a Windows executable fashion. Scratch has had it's code system's 3.0 update, which makes it much mor snappy and responsive, along wsith some cool new features! SimplOS is built on a Scratch 2.0 assembly, but it can be very quickly updated to Scratch 3.0 in the click of a button. Scratch 3.0 has been moved from the now-obselete version of the Flash plugin, (Which had some security issues, but don't worry the desktop version that runs on Flash is the desktop version, so it is safe, along with modifications to make it more secure!), to HTML5! HTML5 has been used for years for website making and development, including the TSL. website, but HTML5 can also be used like Flash to run web-based applications. SimplOS has been ported to HTML5 and can be seen in action here.

The desktop version of SimplOS runs on a modified version of the Flash desktop client, and it runs in fullscreen. It would run in 16:9 aspect ratio, but Flash doesn't support that very well, so 4:3 it is! :D You can use Alt+F4 to close down the OS. SimplOS' desktop client runs best when all other applications are closed.
