However, given the technological breakthroughs of our generation, the degree and intensity of the connections among different cultures and different world regions have accelerated dramatically. This has led to the world becoming a small village, where borders are but a thing of the past. Thus, for the first time we may actually be getting close to becoming one big/unified global society. However, taking into consideration how globalization results to psychological consequences, crucial in influencing an individual’s identity, it is but important to acknowledge that a more active creation or recreation of ‘self’ or identity takes place now that we are adjusting to the developing global society.[Arnett, J. * (alen) Examining the concept of global society. Yes, we are integrating with others and sharing the cultures of many nations; but, it is unthinkable that we will not have differences (ex: difference in religion, nationality, etc.). I believe that what really distinguishes a global society is the fact that we all depend on the same community networks. For example, as I indicated in our discussion, we all follow and utilize the World Health Organization, international trade and economy, and how the same structure of education and governance exists in various nations.
*(ruel) My simple understanding of global society is that all of us are influenced and connected by it, be it positively or negatively, and significant or insignificant. Despite the fact that the concept of international trade is not an entirely new concept, contemporary science and technology have brought people transportation and communication on an unprecedented scale. Discourse with another person on the other side of the world has never been easier, and obtaining international goods is just a trip to a nearby market. For the first time in human history,  we may be confronted with a real global civilization or a unified social group that spans the whole globe.

To exemplify this, all movies have the same universal theme, yet they have their own cultural distinctiveness. Filipino movies have innate Filipino culture and identities, and the same can be said with other foreign movies. Hence movies can give glimpses of the culture and traditions of others and also bring a sense of togetherness to people all throughout the world owing to the universal themes of movies. The same influence can be said with music as it can be used as a tool not only to show the culture but also to incite emotions, communicate, and share stories with another human being on the other side of the world. * Climate change has made me realize that the world is bigger than how I pictured it. This is because this phenomenon affects mankind in different ways. This society is also built through the emergence of technology which served as a bridge for different people to come together.
*(Macario) When it comes to understanding Global Society, in the simplest terms that I can think of, I understand it as an ideology and a theme where society, with all its people and all societal forces and facets that revolve around them are interconnected and integrated with each other. Well, this relation does not necessarily stems out from homogeneity but also with differences that creates unanimity amongst society. It is how a person of one nation shares with another nation its unique set of ideas, culture, and resources that the other could make use of and integrate with their own--creating linkages with one and all. Some experiences that opened my eyes to the reality of having a global society as what I have mentioned in the discussion include the entertainment sector and the climate change in which the effects we experience by now. Social institutions like Religious and Academic institutions are some crucial factors to take into considerations as well in understanding and experiencing Global Society as we know it.
