Transforming services, processes, and strategy to make things better. I used to work in government. I advocated for a culture of design. The timing wasn’t right. There was a complete lack of understanding, and design mindsets and practices were not valued. Things have improved. There are pockets of hope. Advancing research leadership, HR management, and scaling design ops within government is now more important than ever. Despite the challenges of working within government systems, I’m keen to get back into civic design transformation.

New ways of working, and better ways of being: - Human-centered systems thinking - Collaborative and creative leadership - Building and supporting strength-based, multidisciplinary teams - Designing for belonging, inclusion, safety, and trust.

https://www.linkedin.com/in/graeme-edgar/

I'm considering transitioning into a more traditional design role and want to do it in the civic space.

https://www.linkedin.com/in/ardouglass/

Greetings, friends! I'm Nikki Ramos, I'm a design fellow with the US Digital Corps and, day-to-day, work as a product designer on a refugee and asylum case management system.

I'm new to civic design (the field and the conference) as a semi-recent UCLA grad, coming from a cognitive science and digital humanities background. (The tl;dr on that: designing things that work based on how people work -- decision-making, attention, memory, motivation, etc; UX and whatnot in between.)

Design was always the goal, but I figured out the "civic" part amid the pandemic: feeling most passionate about a COVID-19-related project + witnessing technology become the bridge (and barrier) between people. So, still truly getting a lay of the land, but excited to absorb all the compelling things and am happy to meet folks!

I'm based in the SF Bay Area, but am reachable on the internet~
LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/anjenicaramos
Twitter - twitter.com/nkkrms_
-
sorry I couldn't stay the whole time! literally typing this as I'm in another call :P

I’m a long-time Information Architect, Service Designer, and UX Strategist who decided I’d had enough of flogging my guts out in the name of “increasing shareholder value” in the private sector. I got into UX to make things better for people. It seems the archer the account, the harder that is. I need to be doing something relevant for people who need it.

I’m currently on the lookout for a leadership opportunity in the public sector. I have a number of friends and acquaintances in the space who’ve provided good counsel and advice but my options are still open.

Cheers!
