Food preservation is like having a superpower against food waste because it helps food last longer and stay safe to eat. When we pickle, freeze, or dry ingredients, we avoid throwing food away and save money at home. Using sustainable methods, like canning or solar drying, also helps us take care of the environment. This shows Reason, because we learn to use our resources wisely and appreciate the gifts God has entrusted to us.

A lot of snacks we enjoy every day are made using food preservation. Strawberry jam stays sweet and fresh because sugar preserves it, while pickles last long thanks to vinegar and salt. Even fruit juices go through pasteurization so they remain safe to drink. Learning these methods reminds us of God’s Providence, because they help ensure we have nutritious food even when fresh ingredients aren’t available.

Food preservation can open doors for small businesses, especially for families with special recipes. A simple homemade jam or chutney can be bottled, stored, and sold all year, not just during harvest season. This helps entrepreneurs earn income while sharing something meaningful from their home. Supporting these efforts reflects Don Bosco’s value of Loving-Kindness, as we help others grow, succeed, and serve their communities.

This age-old practice has changed along with technological progress. Food preservation helps maintain a constant food supply. It lets you enjoy seasonal foods year-round and also reduces food scarcity. It helps reduce food waste, a significant global issue, by allowing foods to last longer than their natural shelf life.

Food preservation refers to the process of handling and preserving food using certain techniques that stop or slow down spoilage. Food preservation techniques help prevent loss of quality, nutritional value, and edibility. Some examples of products that use food preservation are canned goods and pickled foods. Canned goods include corned beef, tuna, and meat are able to be preserved because of its vacuum-sealed container with high-heat serialization that kills harmful bacterias. Pickled foods preserve by being soaked in a solution containing salt, sugar, and vinegar, which ferments it.

Food preservation can contribute to businesses and entrepreneurship in several ways. First, food preservation helps in extending the shelf life of food. It reduces food waste and promotes food security, earning money for its freshness. Second, by having longer shelf life, it means having a large stock of food all-season. So when other businesses lack customers for not having food that is off-season, a business that uses food preservation gets more for having every food consistently.

Canning, for example,is when foods like tomatoes or fish are heated and then sealed in airtight containers to stay fresh. A simpler method is freezing, which is perfect for eating berries, vegetables, or meat safe to eat later.

The drying technique removes all the moisture from foods like herbs, fruits, or corn. Pickling is the process of soaking food in vinegar or salty water, which is how we get pickled cucumbers and mangoes. Lastly, fermentation uses natural, "good" bacteria to eat the sugars in a food, which creates new flavors in products like yogurt, sauerkraut, and kombucha.

Wikis/Resources

John Gabriel Dayo

/importance-of-food-preservation-ensuring-nutrition-and-sustainability/

https://www.eufic.org/en/whats-in-food/article/what-are-preservatives-and-what-are-common-examples-used-in-food

https://www.vedantu.com/biology/food-preservation-methods

Food packaging is a packaging system specifically designed for food and represents one of the most important aspects among the processes involved in the food industry, as it provides protection from chemical, biological and physical alterations. The main goal of food packaging is to provide a practical means of protecting and delivering food goods at a reasonable cost, while meeting the needs and expectations of both consumers and industries. The food enclosed in the package may require protection from shock, vibration, compression, temperature, bacteria, etc.Small items are typically grouped together in one package to allow efficient handling Liquids, powders, and granular materials need containment.Packaging can play an important role in reducing security risks for shipments

Packages can be made with improved tamper resistance to deter tampering, and can also have tamper-evident features to help indicate tampering.

Freezing is one of the most effective modern preservation methods because it keeps food at temperatures below 0°F, ensuring safety, nutrition, and taste. Products preserved through freezing include meat, mixed berries, seafood, and more. However, freezing isn’t always completely safe; it has both pros and cons. Freezing helps prevent the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mold. On the other hand, freezing only halts microbial activity; bacteria can reactivate once the food is thawed. Therefore, caution should be taken, especially with frozen meat.

Drying is another type of food preservation used , it is also known as the oldest method or technique in preservation methods. This method removes the water or moisture to prevent the bacteria , yeasts , and mold from growing as it causes spoilage to foods. There are ‘not so many’ ways of the drying method, these are; sun drying , smoking , or wind drying. Inhibiting the microorganisms growth and it would allow the food to last a bit longer than usual. It may also cause disadvantages as while drying , some of the vitamins of the food may decrease if it stays in the sun a bit too long. It also may have texture changes from its drying , making them hard or chewy. In general , it is a simple and very effective method / way , also a common method used around modern asia and middle eastern regions.

Chocolate spread has become a breakfast staple and dessert favorite for people of all ages. This smooth, sweet, chocolate-flavored paste is most commonly enjoyed on breads and toasts, but its versatility goes far beyond that. Whether drizzled on waffles, layered on pancakes, tucked into muffins, or smeared inside warm pitas, chocolate spread adds instant indulgence to everyday snacks.

What makes chocolate spread so unique is its creamy consistency. Despite looking, smelling, and tasting like classic chocolate, it doesn’t solidify at room temperature. This is thanks to its blend of cocoa, vegetable oils, sugar, milk, and flavorings. Many varieties also include delightful extras like crushed hazelnuts or hints of honey, adding depth to the flavor and texture.

Usually sold in handy glass jars or plastic tubs, chocolate spread has won hearts around the world. It’s especially loved in places like the Netherlands and widely enjoyed in Israel, particularly among Arab communities. Whether used for breakfast, baking, or simply enjoyed by the spoonful, chocolate spread continues to be a comforting, irresistible treat for chocolate lovers everywhere.

Fermented foods have been part of human diets for thousands of years, offering unique flavors, long shelf life, and surprising health benefits. These foods are created through the action of microorganisms—yeast and bacteria—that transform sugars into alcohol, acids, or gases. This process, known as fermentation, is the foundation of zymology, the science behind how everyday staples like yogurt, kimchi, and sauerkraut are made.ds are fermented; some rely solely on brine, vinegar, or acidic ingredients like lemon juice. But for true fermentation, beneficial microbes such as Lactobacillus play a key role in developing flavor and preserving the food naturally. Today, many of these products are mass-produced through industrial fermentation, yet they still connect us to traditional methods that have stood the test of time. Fermented foods continue to captivate both cooks and scientists—and for good reason.

Not all sour or pickled food

Food preservation isn’t just about keeping ingredients from spoiling—it’s a powerful tool that supports families, communities, and the environment. By extending the life of our food, we gain access to a wider variety of ingredients all year round, not just when they’re in season. This helps ensure better food security, especially during times when fresh produce may be limited.

Many preservation methods, such as drying, freezing, and canning, also protect the food’s original nutrients, allowing us to enjoy healthy, vitamin-rich meals anytime. On top of that, preserving food offers real economic advantages. It helps reduce waste, lets people buy in bulk at lower prices, and stretches household budgets further.

Sustainability is another major benefit. When we preserve food, we cut down on the constant need for growing, transporting, and importing fresh produce. This reduces our overall carbon footprint and supports a more eco-friendly food system. In the end, food preservation is a simple practice with big rewards—for our health, our wallets, and our planet.

Food preservation enables entrepreneurship by allowing producers to extend the shelf life of their goods, reducing spoilage and thereby lowering losses. By using techniques such as canning, pasteurization, or drying, businesses can transform raw agricultural products into value-added items and reach wider markets. These preservation methods are part of the bigger food-processing systems that contribute to reducing food waste and improving food security. With less food wasted, entrepreneurs can use their money for more products while also supporting environmental stability. Ultimately, by preserving food more effectively, small and large food businesses alike can scale operations and make more efficient use of natural resources. This also gives entrepreneurs greater confidence or security because they know their food will stay fresh long enough for people in different places to enjoy it.

Whether used for breakfast, baking, or simply enjoyed by the spoonful, chocolate spread continues to be a comforting, irresistible treat for chocolate lovers everywhere.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocolate_spread

Fermented foods have been part of human diets for thousands of years, offering unique flavors, long shelf life, and surprising health benefits. These foods are created through the action of microorganisms—yeast and bacteria—that transform sugars into alcohol, acids, or gases. This process, known as fermentation, is the foundation of zymology, the science behind how everyday staples like yogurt, kimchi, and sauerkraut are made; some rely solely on brine, vinegar, or acidic ingredients like lemon juice.

Not all sour or pickled food

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fermented_foods

Food preservation makes food more resistant to microorganism growth while also keeping the food fresh. Food preservation also slows down decomposition and foods that are preserved can last up to 3-4 days. Food preservation can reduce food waste and lessen the growth of bacterias in our homes. Food preservation can also help save money due to longer shelf life, because of this we do not frequently buy food. In conclusion Food preservation is important because it slows down food spoilage, keeping the food safe to eat while also saving money.

Food Preservation is the process of treating and handling food. It’s important because it helps us in reducing food waste, food safety and food quality. Food preservation makes food more resistant to microorganisms, that's why it helps in reducing food waste. Preservatives and preservation prevent foods from spoiling and oxidizing quickly, allowing grocery manufacturers to distribute foods around the world without impacting food safety or quality. Safe preservation methods slow the natural spoilage process to prevent growth of bacteria while preserving the nutritional value, taste, color, and texture of some favorite foods.

Drying preserves food by removing moisture where bacteria grow. Pickling uses vinegar to lower pH and stop bacteria. Canning seals food in airtight containers and heats it to kill microbes.

Plus, preserved food helps businesses plan more ahead easily, which gives them a better chance to grow and succeed.

Some foods are kept fresh for a long time by using different preservation methods. An example is umeboshi, which is super sour plums that get preserved by pickling them in salt. Another example is dried mango, where the water is removed so bacteria can’t grow. There is also canned tuna, which is sealed in a can and heated to keep it safe to eat for a long time. Food preservation helps everyday foods stay good even when we don’t eat them right away.

The equipment and ingredients you need to make pickled mango are glass jars and lids, one kilogram of firm unripe mangos, vinegar, 3/4 cup of water, sugar, spices and tongs. The first step is to wash the jars before boiling them for at least 10 minutes. Using tongs, place them on a rack to dry. Prepare the mangos by peeling and cutting them. Using a non-reactive pan, combine the vinegar, sugar and spices, boiling the mixture over medium heat and mixing it until the sugar and spices dissolve. Tightly pack the mangoes into the jars, pour the brine over the mango slices and enjoy!

Ratio and proportions are always used in our daily lives. For example, when we make pickled mangoes. To create it, we need to boil 2 cups of water in 1 pot, giving us the ratio of 2:1. Then for proportions, we used direct proportion when we were boiling the water—the more cups of water we add, the more time it takes to boil, following the meaning of direct proportion. We still used indirect proportion for boiling water—the hotter it (the water) gets, the lesser time it takes to wait. We used partitive when we were planning how many items each member will bring. In our original group, we had 7 members, but we only had to bring 5 items, so 2 members only had to cook and not bring any items. By using partitive proportion, I got the answer which is 1x10, 2x10, 3x10, 4x10, 5x10, the answers being 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50, meaning each member will bring one item each.

- Making pickle mango can be explained through clear steps. First, fresh raw mango are washed, dried, and cut into small pieces, Second, salt is added to the mango pieces and they are kept aside for few hours. Third, spieces like chili powder, turmeric, and mustard seed's are mixed in. Fourth, heated oil is poured over the mixture and sttired well. Finally, the pickle is stored in a clean, and dry jar to develop flavors.

In order to make pickled mangoes we have to do these steps. First, we have to boil our jars hot water. After taking the jars out of the pot, put their lids inside the pot for at least 10 seconds before taking them back out. Then once you complete the first step we can now move onto the second. While we wait for our jars and lids to cool off, we can now ahead and make our juice for the mango. For the juice, we will need vinegar, sugar, water, salt, and our spices that we like inside the pot and mix them. After mixing we move onto the third step, we cut our mango vertically then cut the sides of the mango. Then, we get our jars and fit as many slices of mango we can and like into the jar. Lastly, we pour the juice inside the jar and we finally have succeeded making pickled mango. In conclusion, to make pickled mango we need these ingredients, ripe mangoes, vinegar, sugar, water, salt, and our spices that are completely optional to put, and then we need jars and a pot to help make pickled mangoes.

Ratio and Proportion are mathematical expressions that helps us in our daily lives. In making pickled mangoes, we will use 4 mangoes and 6 jars. The ratio we can get with that is 4:6 unless we simplify the ratio. If we simplify 4:6, we can get 2:3. Proportion has 3 types and it's Direct, Indirect, and Partitive proportion. For example, we have 2 mangoes if each mango can have 8 pieces after cutting, how many pieces will we have if cut 4 mangoes? In solving this situation, we will use the solution of Direct Proportion. This situation is Direct because the quantities in this situation have the same movements. which are increasing. In solving this situation, we need to multiply the complete terms in the ratio, which are 8 x 4 = 32. Next step is to divide 32 by the remaining number which is 2. 32/2 = 16. The final answer is we will have 16 pieces of mangoes. Another example is if 4 workers spend 20 minutes making the pickled mangoes and 2 people left because of the strong smell the vinegar has, how many minutes will the rest take? This problem is indirect because the quantities go to different directions which are increasing and decreasing. In solving this problem, we need to multiply the complete ratio together which is 4 x 20 = 80. Next step is we need to divide 80 by the remaining number. The final answer will be 40 minutes. Last example is Group 3 has 4 mangoes. The ratio of Bea, Anne, and Dione is 2:1:1. How many mangoes will each receive? This problem is partitive because we are dividing a whole which is the 4 mangoes to an unequal part. We solve this problem by adding all terms together, 2 + 1 + 1 = 4. Next, we divide the whole which is the 4 mangoes by the sum we got, which is 4, 4/4 = 1. The last step is we need to multiply the quotient we got with 2:1:1. The final answer is Bea will get 2 mangoes while Dione and Anne will only receive 1. In summary, proportions are very useful in our daily lives.

And, each ingredient retains its own properties when being mixed into a mixture. Other than that, these hetereogenous ingredients can be easily seen and easily separated using separating techniqes.

The mixture we have chosen is pickled mango and it is a heterogeneous mixture. In general, pickled mango is healthy and provides vitamins A and C that supports immunity and eye health and contains spices and antioxidants that aid digestion and reduce inflammation. However, it is high in salt and oil, so excess consumption can increase calorie and sodium intake, but since it has varying composition, one spoonful may have more mango while another may contain more oil or salt, therefore some may not have intended nutrients. Other than that, since it is a heterogeneous mixture, people can choose on more mango pieces or more oil/spices depending on the taste or dietary preference. Visible mango pieces and more spices make it easier to choose the ingredients you can pick up. Now for the ingredients, each ingredient serves a difference and affects the final taste. The raw mango provides the sweet taste, texture, and nutrients/ Vitamin A and C that support immunity and digestion. Salt and vinegar preserve the pickle, enhance flavor, and prevent spoilage. Chili power and spices add the heat, color, and aid digestion with antioxidants. Tong improves flavor and gut health. sugar can balance the sour and/or spicy flavors and provides energy. Lastly, oil preserves the mangoes, enhances flavor, and helps absorb vitamins.

Ratio and proportion is used in our daily lives. For example, when you make a pickled mango, you have to buy mangoes that cost 200 PHP for 4 mangoes. But you need 8 mangoes in order to make 2 jars of pickled mango. So the question is, how much money is 8 mangoes?

In this situation, it is a direct proportion: 8 mangoes, 400 PHP. The reason why this is a direct proportion is because more mangoes equals more the cost. Fitting the standard for direct proportion. Following where one value corresponds increase in the other.

Another situation where you use proportion and ratios in real life is you have 500 PHP budget and you need to buy 8 mangoes. And if you buy 4, it will leave you with a 300 PHP budget. So the question is, how much money will you have left after buying 8 mangoes?

In this situation, the proportion type is indirect: The answer is 150 PHP. The reason on why this is an indirect proportion is because more mangoes equals less money left over. Meaning the type of proportion is indirect, where one value causes a decrease in the other quantity.

The last situation or example is when there is 1,000 grams of sugar and you have 1 large jar and 1 medium jar to put sugar in. The ratio of sugar needed is 3:2. So the question is, how much sugar is needed in the large jar?

In this situation the type of proportion is partitive: The largest jar needs 600 grams of sugar. The reason why this is a partitive proportion is because 1,000 grams of sugar was divided into needed parts according to the ratio.

So in conclusion, ratio and proportion is in our daily lives and comes in many types.

A direct relationship is when two things go up or down together because they go together. For example, Ishavella can make 5 jars of pickled mango in 1 hour. To find out how many jars she can make in 4 hours, you multiply the jars per hour by the number of hours which gives us 20 jars. An indirect relationship is when one thing goes up, but the other goes down. For example, if 4 workers take 30 minutes to make pickled mangoes, it will take 2 workers more time to make the same amount. So we need to multiply 4 x 30 divided by 2 gives us 120, divided by 2 so that gives us 60 minutes. A partitive relationship is when you share something into parts. For example, Elizabeth made 8 jars of pickled mango and wants to share them among 3 friends in the ratio 1:2:1, so you need to add the ratio parts then divide it by the number of jars which is 8, and then multiply each ratio number by 2. So that gives us 2:4:2.

The ingredients that we used and their ratio are. Salt, Pepper, Vinegar, Chili Powder, Oil, Mangoes, and Jar are 1:2:2:1:1:1:1: if we try to simplify it, it is the same because the numbers are already as small as they can be.

To make Pickled mangos, first, wash 1 kilo of green mangoes and peel their skin so they are clean and ready to use. Next, slice the mangoes into long pieces and place them neatly in a clean jar. Then, make the pickling liquid by mixing 3/4 cup water, 3/4 cup vinegar, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt in a pot and heating it until the sugar and salt dissolve. After that, let the liquid cool down before pouring it over the mango slices so they can soak up the flavor without getting cooked. Finally, close the jar and put it in the refrigerator so the mangoes can pickle and become sweet and tangy before eating.

At the same time, food prices are increasing, and families need healthier and more affordable food choices. To help address this problem, we are encouraged to support SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by learning how to preserve food. Guided by the Don Bosco values of helping others, being responsible, and caring for the environment, we apply what we learn to real-life situations.

In this task, we will make Pickled Mango using the correct mixtures, proper proportions, and safe food practices. We will also create a blog to share what we learned with the community, showing how we can be good Christians and responsible citizens by helping reduce food waste and promote sustainability, while also showing how different school subjects work together to preserve food safely,

accurately, and creatively.

Direct proportion:

Direct proportion mean if a quantity increases, the other one increases aswell. If a base recipe for Pickle mango requires 2 green mangoes to be covered by 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of sugar. But you want to make a larger batch using 4 mangoes, you need to also double the brine to 2 cups of vinegar and 2 cups of sugar to keep the taste consistent. This makes the ratio of liquid to fruit remains 1:1 (2 mangoes/1 cup vinegar = 4 mangoes/2 cups vinegar). Resulting in a properly submerge pickle mangoes since the mango slices soaks up the flavor.

inverse proportion:

inverse proportion is applied to manage the curing time relative to the salt concentration in the brine. As the concentration of salt in the solution increases, the required soaking time for the green mangoes decreases, allowing for a faster, yet equally preserved, end product. For instance, if you double the salt concentration in the brine, you can roughly halve the resting time needed before the mangoes are ready to eat. This application ensures that larger batches of sliced mangoes do not take exponentially longer to cure by adjusting the brine density inversely to the total volume of mangoes. By utilizing this inverse relationship, you have the correct, crisp texture and prevent excessive, mushy fermentation.

Partitive proportion:

is correctly made in making pickled mango by establishing a specific ratio for the brine ingredients mostly vinegar, water, and sugar based on the total volume needed. To apply this, first determine the total quantity of brine required, such as 3 cups, and the desired ratio, for example, 1 part vinegar to 1 part water to 1 part sugar 1:1:1. Calculate the value of a single part by dividing the total required amount by the sum of the ratio parts 3 cups total / 3 parts = 1 cup per part. Multiply the unit value by each part of the ratio to determine the exact amount of each ingredient needed to create the perfect brine. Finally, add the mixture on the prepared raw mangoes, to soak up the flavors so the mango slices can pickle. This results in a consistently flavorful pickled mango.

These are the ingredients for making pickled mango: We need two raw mangoes, a pinch of salt, two drops of vinegar, 1/2 chili powder, 1 big jar. three pinches of sugar, one cup of water, and one cup of oil. These ingredients are what we need to make pickled mango.

This is how to make pickled mangoes: First, wash the two mangoes then after that, peel the skin before slicing the mangoes into pieces. Second, we get a big pot and fill it with water, and heat it up, and put the jar in the pot of water to sterilize it. Third, after a couple minutes, we take the jar out of the pot then drain the water, add new water into the pot, and start making the spices. Fourth, we add our ingredients into the pot of water and mix them together to add flavor to the water. Fifth, after mixing the ingredients together, we grab the sterilized jar and put the sliced mangoes into the jar, then after that we pour the mixture into the jar. Lastly, we close the jar with the lid and let it rest before eating it.

SCIENCE - PETA COMPONENT

GROUP 6

--------------------------------------------

Pickled mango is a heterogeneous (non-uniform) mixture because its parts can be seen and are not evenly mixed. It is made of mango slices, liquid brine, and spices. The brine is a homogeneous (uniform) mixture because the salt, sugar, vinegar, and water are evenly mixed together.

Because pickled mango is a heterogeneous mixture, its ingredients (mango slices, vinegar, salt, sugar, and spices) are not evenly distributed. This means the nutrients can vary in each serving or in every bite. The mango provides vitamins like vitamin C and vitamin A, while the vinegar and salt help preserve the food. However, some nutrients, especially vitamin C, may decrease during pickling because of the acidic solution of the brine. The salt and sugar added can also increase sodium and calorie intake, so the nutrition depends on how much brine is consumed with the mango, it can be less or more nutritious.

Being a heterogeneous mixture makes pickled mango very useful and practical in daily life. The visible pieces of mango and spices give it a strong flavor and texture, making it a popular side dish, condiment or even as a snack. The brine can be used as a seasoning or dip too. The vinegar and salt prevent the growth of harmful bacteria, allowing the mango to last longer without refrigeration. This makes pickled mango easy to store, transport, and use over time, especially in households and small food businesses.

Direct Proportion

Issa and Amaia used 2 cut mangoes and 3 sprinkles of spices to give flavor. If they wanted to use 10 mangoes, how many sprinkles of spices would they need?

Solution:

2:3 = 10:n n=15 They would need 15 sprinkles of spices for 10 mangoes.

The situation here involves a direct proportion because the more mangoes you use, the more spices you need, this is to balance the taste. The proportion sentence is 2 mangoes to 3 sprinkles of spice equals to 10 mangoes to the sprinkles of spice we need to solve for. First, multiply the means, 3 and 10, then take the answer from that, which is 30, and divide it by the known extreme, 2. The answer is 15, which will be our final answer, 15 sprinkles of spices.

Indirect Proportion

Rhian, Wade, and Christler took 120 minutes to make a jar of pickled mango. If Amaia, Issa, and Ady worked at the same rate as them and joined them, how many minutes would it take all of them to make a jar of pickled mango?

3:120=6:n n=60 It takes 60 minutes for all of them to make a jar of pickled mango.

In this situation, it is an indirect proportion because with the more people working at the same rate, the less time to complete the work. The proportion sentence is 3 people to 120 minutes equals to 6 people to the minutes we need to solve for. We multiply the complete ratio first, 3 and 120, which is equal to 360. Then, we divide it by the number in the same ratio as the incomplete one, 6. The quotient is the final answer, which is 60 minutes.

Partitive Proportion

If the 6 members of Group 2 wanted to separate the jobs of cleaners and cookers into the ratio of 1:2, how many members would be in each job? These jobs are to clean up after cooking the pickled mango and actually cooking it.

6 1:2 1x2=2

             2x2=4

There would be 2 members in the jobs of cleaners and 4 members in the jobs of cookers.

In this problem, there is a partitive proportion since it involves splitting a whole number, 6 members, into a ratio, 1:2 of cleaners to cookers. To solve this, we add the terms in the ratio together then divide the answer with the whole number, the answer being 2. Next, multiply that answer by each number in the ratio, where you'll get 2 members for cleaning and 4 for cooking.

To create our jar, my group used green mangoes, white vinegar, water, sugar, salt, and chili flakes. The only materials required were a glass jar, tongs, and a pot to sterilize the jars. With these simple items, anyone can create delicious pickled mangoes.

To begin the process, sterilize the jars in boiling water for 10 minutes and set them aside to dry. Prepare the pickling juice by boiling the vinegar, water, chili flakes, salt, and sugar until the solids dissolve, then allow the mixture to cool. While the liquid cools, wash, peel, and slice the mangoes into your preferred shape. Pack the mango slices into the jars and pour the pickling mixture over them until they are fully submerged. Finally, store the jars in a cool place for at least one to two days to allow the flavors to develop before serving.

Math helps make pickled mango taste just right by using exact measurements. For example the ratio of vinegar to water is 1:1 ratio. This balance keeps the mixture acidic enough to preserve the mango safely. A direct proportion is shown when the amount of sugar increases as the amount of mango increases. If two cups of sliced mango need exactly 1/2 cup of sugar, then 4 cups of sliced mango need exactly 1 cup of sugar to keep the same taste. An inverse proportion can be seen in time and temperature when the temperature is 30 c, the mango maybe ready in 24 hours, when the temperature is 15c , the mango may take 48 hours to pickle. using exact numbers helps ensure good taste, safety, and quality. I have 12 cups of mango and 3 customers, Mark, Alberto, and Bob. 1:1:2 and i need to know who bought the most amount. So first I add 1+1+2=4, then divide 12/4 = 3, so 3 x 2 =6, and thus the answer to who bought the most mango is Bob, who bought 6 cups of mango.

The pickled mango is a heterogeneous

mixture or non-uniform mixture. The mixture is classified as a heterogenous mixture because you can easily identify the different ingredients used in them such as the mangoes or spices floating around. The pickled mango's balance of sweetness and spice makes it taste great while helping to regulate blood sugar. The mango itself also gives many healthy nutrients and vitamin C. The technique of preservation we used is pickling. Pickling means submerging it in a jar of vinegar and salt where the brine from them increases the shelf life of the mango that's being pickled while also enhancing its flavor.

Direct : A kilogram of mango is equal to 102 pesos if Mateo buys one more kilogram will have to pay 204 this problem is direct because the more kilogram of mangoes you buy, the more you will have to pay.

Indirect : In making the pickled mango, Mateo and PJ finished in 2 hours. The second time they made it, Alyna and Nathaniel helped them, so there were 4 people working in the same rate. Because of this, they finished faster, taking an hour ( 2:2=4:1 ). This situation shows an indirect proportion because the number of people increased and the time decreased.

Partitive : There are 6 ingredients in total. Bryant, Nathaniel, and Cailex brought the the ingredients. Bryant brought 3 out of 6 ingredients, Nathaniel brought 2 out of the ingredients, Cailex brought 1 out of the 6 ingredients.
MATH - WRITTEN BY LEXI SOPHIA ALEJO

DIRECT PROPORTION

Ember sterilized 2 jars in 15 minutes. How many minutes would it take to sterilize 4 jars (two more) if she used a bigger pot?

To solve this, we use a direct proportion. This is because as the number of jars increases, the time needed to sterilize them also increases.

First, we set up our ratios comparing jars to minutes: 2 is to 15, as 4 is to N. In math terms, we call the outside numbers (2 and N) the extremes and the inside numbers (15 and 4) the means.

To find the answer, we multiply the means (15 X 4), which gives us 60. We know that the product of the extremes must equal the product of the means. So, 2 times N must also equal 60. To find the value of N, we divide 60 by 2. This gives us 30. Therefore, it would take Ember 30 minutes to sterilize 4 jars.

INDIRECT PROPRTION

Knox takes 45 minutes to cut 4 mangoes by himself. If Aneiszha joins him and they work at the same pace, how long will it take them to finish together?

To solve this, we use an indirect proportion. Since this is different because as we add more people to do the work, the time spent should actually go down, not up.

First, we look at the complete ratio we already know: 1 person takes 45 minutes. We multiply these together (1 X 45) to get a total of 45.

Since there are now 2 people working together, we need to split that total time between them. We take our total of 45 and divide it by 2. When we calculate 45 / 2, we get 22.5. This means that with two people working at the same pace, the job gets done faster. It will take them 22.5 minutes to finish cutting the mangoes.

3. PARTITIVE PROPORTION

Lexi is mixing a large "dry seasoning" jar where the ratio of sugar to salt must remain 36:1. If your jar contains a total of 74 teaspoons of this mixture, how many teaspoons of sugar and salt are inside?

To solve the problem, we add the given ratio which is 36:1. The added ratio’s sum is 37, then we divide 37 with 74 which is 2. Then we use the term of the given ratio to multiply it by 2. 36 teaspoons of sugar multiplied by 2 is 72 and 1 teaspoon of salt multiplied by 2 is 2. So the answer for this question is there are 72 teaspoons of sugar and 2 teaspoon of salt in the jar.

There are many simples ways to demonstrate the types of proportions with pickled mangoes. With direct proportion, we can use the question "If we have 1 kg of mangoes and it needs 10 pcs of peppercorn, if we have 2kg of mangoes, how many pieces of peppercorn do we need?" We can use the sentence 1:10=2:X and we can multiply the means and divide the product with the remaining number in which we can get the answer 20pcs. With indirect proportion, we can use the question "If 3 workers can make 10 jars in 1 hour, if we have 6 workers, how long will they take took to make 10 jars?" We can use the sentence 3:60=6:X and multiply the complete ratio in which we can divide the product by the remain number

In which we can get the answer 30. With partitive proportion, we can use the question "if 3 people bought pickled mangoes and the ratio of each person is 6:10:14 and each costs 10 pesos each, how much does each person pay?" We can first add up all the ratios and divide the sum with the remaining number in which we can get the number 3 so we can multiply all the ratios in which we can get the numbers 18,30,42.

these examples of direct, indirect and partitive proportion, First is direct proportion " If 3 Students can make 30 pickled mango stripes how many can 5 students make" This is direct proportion and the answer in this is 50. Next is Indirect proportion " If 5 Students take 15 minutes to make 30 mango stripes, how long will 3 students make with the same amount" This is indirect proportion and the answer is 25 minutes. Next is partitive " 3 students are going to buy mangos to make pickled mangos they share the price of 1500 to the ratio of 5:3:2 how much will each student pay " This is partitive proportion and the money that they will split is 750:450:300 and that is the three types of proportion used in situations while making pickled mangos.

'' Food preservation helps entrepreneurs by selling them and making

income. Food is one of the things entrepreneur sell because they know

that people need food for energy. Another reason why it helps

entrepreneurs because of quality.
