Modern issues faced by urbanization (differences between HIC and LIC).

- Urban population consume more energy, food, water, and land compared to rural population. Hence, urban population released more waste and pollution, which lower the living standard. However, Rapid trend of migration from rural to urban from LIC can result from poor planning and housing. Therefore, urbanization in LIC can cause slums, increasing crime rate, and fresh water pollution, unemployment, urban sprawl and overcrowding. On the other hand, in HIC countries urbanization causes reverse migration trend, in which people move from urban to rural/edge of the city areas. People move from urban to rural because they can find cheaper land, safer neighbor, lack of pollution, fresh fruits/vegetables, and good education for their family as the living standard and life quality is remained high in these area. Consequently, as a result of reverse migration, more transportation is needed from rural to urban causes transportation congestion.
