Developmentally, North Korea is considered to be one of the least developed in the world. Even though they are so poorly developed and struggle economically, they possess Nuclear capabilities. If North Korea wants to grow and join the international system, they need to pick a leader that is good for their country and good for foreign relations. With the type of government they have, they have been isolated from most of the world so it has been hard for them to grow. As a nation, they tried to establish a political government and set up elections. Although, their were two different political ideas on the peninsula so the fear of fixed elections swept across. Due to this, the country split in two. Although, North Korea not wanting to have a continued split, invaded the South to hopefully unify. Relations with North Korea in the past have been tense.
