In questioning, it is best to use both open and closed questioning techniques. For the closed questioning, teachers must be aware of what they want to ahieve, while open questioning techniques allows them to share in greater depth to develop them further. Open questioning gives the teacher the opportunity to assess how much they know of a topic which is beneficial for them to realised what should they cover in the topic.

2 reasons: Collect evidence & cause students to think.
Closed questions are not always bad. It is good to ask a variety of both closed and open questions depending on the topic that the students are learning as for some topics, closed questions are necessary for students to comprehend & evaluate their thinking.
- Alternatives to questions can be good in classrooms as instead of the teacher always asking questions, a statement can be given for students to discuss & agree or disagree the statements.
-I can combine wait time & alternatives to questions in my classroom.

No hands up except to ask questions. This encourages pupils to listen and be prepared to give their views because they may be called upon anytime. They do not have the usual volunteers raising their hands to answer the teachers qn and save them. I can use this technique in my class to keep all my pupils in the hot seat.
