I'm still holding out a tiny glimmer of hope you'll change your mind and not leave us, as I can't imagine the team without you! You have brought so much to the Lit department - among many other things, your expertise, connections, team organising and advice have made a world of difference to our work.  Personally, I've been very grateful for all your support as well as the times you have made entirely correct and very necessary challenges.  You have been a force for good at the British Council. Your new role sounds perfect for you and I have no doubt you will achieve great things in diversifying the curriculum. I can't wait to hear about the results.  We'll miss you and Irene in the catch ups, and all the best with your move to Manchester. Please stay in touch!

Well, your time with the organisation has certainly been an eventful one! I think you only had a month or two of 'normalcy' when you started before we locked down and things haven't been the same since. It's a real testament to you how despite working remotely you were able to so quickly grasp the nuances of our work, build your own networks and become an invaluable member of our team. I shall really miss our conversations and thank you for being so generous in sharing your experiences and ideas with us. You wear your rich and varied range of knowledge, insight and experience lightly but with unmistakable authority. I recall so many occasions when your sharp focus on the heart of the matter in question was combined with subtle appreciation of different angles and interests. That you are moving on to such an exciting and challenging role fills me and all your colleagues with pleasure, we'll miss you terribly and the British Council will be poorer without you. I very much hope our paths will cross again, soon and often, perhaps in Edinburgh or in Manchester ... and we have that appointment to meet still pending in Trinidad.

It's been such a huge pleasure and privilege having you as part of the literature team for the past two years. I have particularly enjoyed getting to know you better over the past few months as we worked together on the India projects. I loved our catch-ups which meandered from project updates to future-gazing. Your insights, suggestions, connections and challenges have made our work and the British Council better, and you are always generous about recognising achievements and successes. 
I know you are (to steal your own phrase) going to smash it at Lit in Colour and I am going to try my hardest to find a way to work with you on it. I also am certain that you are soon going to be one of the stars of our industry who everyone will be clamouring to work with... we can say we knew you way back when... !
