Since we’ve started our project, I’ve worked 12 of the required 15 hours. I work my last 3 hours on November 4th.

On Saturday, Sept. 16th I went to the Village of Franklin Park and did an event for the people of Franklin Park. While this event was not too busy, I got to meet Mayor Barrett Pedersen. In total I believe we did 13 cans, or approximately 2000 pounds of paper, one ton (quite literally).

My UN Goal I decided that was best for my community service was goal number 13, or Climate Action. Paper shredding helps with climate action since it takes the paper out of places they shouldn’t be and be properly recycled and reused. It helps reuse old paper instead of cutting down new trees to create paper.

Before dancing at homecoming on the beautiful day of Saturday Sept. 30th, I was up early in the morning doing some shredding for State Senator Suzy Glowiak-Hilton in Batavia! I don't remember how many cans we did at this event but we were pretty busy, and we've now worked with Senator Suzy multiple times!

After having the week before off because I was in Columbus checking out Ohio State, I was back to the shredding grind. This week we were in Lombard on the cold, cloudy day. We usually work events at Lombard twice a year, one in the spring (typically April) and another event in the fall (typically October). These events are hit or miss, and we were able to stay busy and do about 25 cans.

First time doing back to back weeks, this week we were in Des Plaines for State Senator Laura Murphy and State Rep Marty Moylan. This is my second time working the event in Des Plaines and it can get really busy! I believe we did ~30 cans which is approximately 4500 pounds of paper!

I have not done anything so far regarding the research portion of the CEP Project.

To what extent does shredding paper help the environment?

CHANGED 1/23/2024: Because it is too hard to find anything with the sources needed. My new question is: To what extent has the climate changed, and what can we do to help?

On November 4th, I completed my last community service aspect of the CEP Project. We were in Highland Park working with the village community leaders and were not too busy due to this being pushed back from our original date of September 23rd.

I have competed all 15 hours of community service.

In January, my informed service was registering to vote. It was a very simple process and I plan on voting in the March Primary elections.

This section was going to be about the blood drive on 2/23, but it got cancelled before I could go to the event 6th period. Hopefully they host the event again soon because I would love to donate blood and hopefully help someone else in need.

I just received my voter election card and this afternoon (3.15) I am going to go early vote for the Illinois Primary Election. I believe that voting in elections is an important part of society, for every voted position
