His book Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica, published in 1687, laid the foundations of classical mechanics and became one of the most important scientific books in history. In this work, Newton introduced the universal gravity and the three laws of motion, and this perspective dominated the scientific world for the next three centuries. Newton demonstrated with the consistency between his law of gravity and Kepler's law of planetary motion that the motion of objects in the world and objects in the sky are governed by the same natural laws.
