I also expect to learn a lot more about our government system in this class. My level of interest in the presidential election is very high. If I could vote, I would definitely vote for Hillary Clinton, seeing as she's not a white-supremacist bigot like Donald Trump. Although I don't really support Hillary, I think she's definitely the lesser of two evils and would run our country much better than the other candidate. I think burning the flag is symbolic speech and should not be make illegal just because of society's feelings. He was elected so that Jim Taylor could give him orders and Jefferson would just vote however he wanted him to. When Mr. Smith proposed a new bill for a boys camp though, he found out that Mr. Taylor was planning on building a dam on the land that he wanted to use. Mr. Taylor only wanted the land for his own personal profit. Today, he would probably still be a democrat. I think after the movie ended, he probably left the Senate and returned to his former job of being the leader of the Boy Rangers because he already said he wasn't fit for Senate. Mr. Smith just didn't seem like the type to like politics and all of the corruption, so he probably just went home because he didn't want to deal with it. Both men are kind of quieter and they both came or returned to the Senate with people not really knowing what to expect. Also, during Rand Paul's 13 hour filibuster, Senator Mark Kirk brought him a container of tea and an apple, the exact same items that Mr. Jefferson Smith pulled out of his pocket during his 23 hour filibuster in the movie.
