On the board: Date, CFQ, table points
Most students seated on the carpet. Several students standing. 1 student sitting slightly apart underneath desk. What was the decision that led to having students standing during the read aloud? They seem to be engaged and self selecting to sit down as needed.
"I like Laura's idea" returns to reading.
"What's a toad?"
"It's like a dry frog"
"So toads are really old?"
"Yah they are like dinosaurs!"
I see that Jerry is earning some table points. He's engaged his eyes are on the book.
Students taping chest as symbol that they agree in group discussion.
Reengaging students by noticing and naming behavior and giving table points.
"Let's compare and contrast" elevating academic vocabulary. Have you taught them these terms prior to now?
Re: bathroom...Let's teach them the "go before you go" I can explain this later.
