  • Education should be an instrument to balance out social inequality.
  • Academic vs vocational. More of a focus on trades and skills from a young age. Children gaining an understanding and ability in basic woodwork, electricity, plumbing, environmental & sustainability 
  • More time for play, breaks, interaction and less focus on ram and cram and regimentation, more on caring.
  • All of this needs to come with more of an understanding from employers to ensure that parents have this as an option or else it just leads to even more social inequality.

They originally designed it for testing potential NASA engineers and scientists on how innovative they were. The researchers asked 1,600 5-year-old children how many uses they could come up with for paperclips. They then retested those children at ages 10 and 15. And they tested a group of adults.

    The results were shocking when we compare them to common beliefs about the intelligence of children vs. adults. The proportion of people who scored at the “Genius Level” on this test were:

    • 5-year-olds: 98%
    • 10-year-olds: 30%
    • 15-year-olds: 12%
    • adults: 2%

    How and why does this happen? 

    Convergent and Divergent thinking - the need for each to have room to operate - but not at the same time!
