This article given the research, that helicopter parenting is one of the styles of parenting. Helicopter parents tend to step in and make decisions for their children and teens. Helicopter parenting has long-lasting effects on children, which can follow them into adolescence and adulthood. Finding ways to support kids without hovering will benefit the entire family; here are some ideas for approaches to parenting that don't involve hovering. Parents can help their children most by listening closely to their fears, concerns and challenges. As a result, children discover that they can trust their parents to be there for them without taking over. And they have the opportunity to sort through what's going on with the support of a sympathetic listener

Parenting styles are important and influence all phases of development and lifestyle of children. This is because parents are overprotective and authoritative such that they decide the present and future steps of their children, without demonstrating and teaching their children the adequate skills so that they can be independent. From my point of view, the research showed more cons than pros which is why I am not recommending helicopter parenting for parents. In my opinion, although there are chances that helicopter parenting can be effective, it will cause a huge impact on the children’s mental health. In the article, according to Hirsch and Goldberger “helicopter parenting is a process of distinctive parents that never allow their children to make mistakes and be trapped in the cave of stress.”. This sentence clearly tells us that helicopter parenting will affect the development of the children's growth. Various countermeasures should be implemented by parents by having realistic expectations, giving personal space, creating a positive learning environment and more. Hence, the article tells us that parents play an important role in the children's daily life.

The literature review shows that helicopter parenting is a way of interfering in the child's life. These are parents who always pay close attention to their children's activities and schoolwork, not only to protect them from pain and disappointment, but also to help them succeed. Various measures have been taken to control the effects of helicopter parenting on the child's life. For example, the studies suggest that parents should learn to be flexible and let the child do what they want to do according to their own ideas. In my opinion, this article does not provide enough evidence on how this issue worries parents in the future. Also, some parents think that this kind of parenting style is good to make their children succeed. I believe this is because there is a lack of information to deal with the issue and not realising how much this issue affects the child's life. In the article, D.H. Lawrence says, "How to start raising a child. First rule: leave it alone. Second rule: leave it alone. Third rule: leave it alone. That's the whole beginning.". This sentence clearly tells us that parents should let their children do what they want. However, it does not tell us how important gratitude and humility are in raising a child.

Negative effects of over-parenting are well documented. Researchers have found it can lead to psychological distress, narcissism, poor adjustment, alcohol and drug use, and a host of other behavioural problems in emerging adults ages 18 to 25. So, Parents need to learn to accept their children's own goals and give them the chance to explore. Young adults need the room to go out and explore and find their own life and their own ambitions. Perfectionists May Be More Prone to Helicopter Parenting. Besides, Anxious Parents May Also be Prone to Helicoptering and More Moms Than Dads Fall in the Over-parenting Trap. For me, helicopter parents are serious issue that all parents should avoid. However, they also need to take care about their children as long as their children need it. As examples, 302 parents of young adults were asked to rate a series of statements designed to measure their levels of engagement in over-parenting and their levels of perfectionism and the 290 parent-young adult pairs has been survey that young adults responded to statements designed to measure their perception of their parent's parenting style. The findings from both studies confirmed that perfectionism is indeed associated with helicopter parenting. Hence, the negative effects of helicopter parenting on young adults are well-documented, but less is known about what leads some people to engage in over parenting in the first place

In the nutshell, helicopter parenting that is highly intensive or involved with the children can have either positive or negative outcomes which can impact the psychological well-being of the children. Even though there are pros and cons in helicopter parenting it will not change the fact that it is affecting the kids. Helicopter parenting is a way of being involved in a child's life that is over-controlled, over-protective and over perfect. One of the major factor of parenting helicopter is fear of children's future. Another reason why this style of parenting is so prevalent is that children are considered very valuable. Children with helicopter parents may be less able to deal with the challenging demands of growing up. Helicopter parenting can make parents hypersensitive to the possibility of failure or threat. Overprotective, controlling parents limit teens' opportunities to build essential skills that help them flourish as adults. Perfectionist parents may see their children's success as a reflection on them, study finds. Perfectionists may engage in over-parenting in an effort to achieve "perfect" results. Findings are published in the journal Couple and Family Psychology
