         <description><![CDATA[<div>My sister was a third grade teacher at the elementary school right next to the Aurora Movie Theatre where the infamous Batman Shooting occurred. She had two students who had family members that where in attendance, one of the students actually lost his aunt to the event. Since the event shook the entire community, she had to navigate how to teach her class with this heavy event always looming in the background. This article includes several strategies for teaching after a devestating event and for teaching students who are struggling with their own personal traumas.</div>]]></description>

As much as we hope it won't happen, the reality is that some of my students are going to experience losses of that caliber.
