I plan on trying it this week! The directions state to make 3 columns: column one includes 3 vocabulary words, column two includes the definitions or a synonym of the word, column three includes a sentence with a blank for where the word would be. You have the students cut the 3 rows up and cut the other columns into tiny squares. They then put it in a baggie and mix it up and put their vocabulary words together. It's suppose to them reinforce the key concepts, synonyms/definitions, and how to use the word. They each have a passage with 20 new vocabulary words used in context. Then the student must look in the text for synonyms for the vocabulary words within the passage. Finally, the worksheet has 20 multiple choice questions specifically about how the words are used in the passage. I use these assignments with my 9th and 11th graders, and the most successful I have been with vocabulary understanding is when I give them these context clue worksheets. I have also adapted these worksheets into Google Forms that my students can complete digitally. Here is the link for a freshmen level worksheet on Google Forms.

In the passed I actually had a parent pay for a year subscription for me to use this in my classroom because her child enjoyed playing games at home. It was great resourse for vocabulary, spelling, and more. I haven't used this with my Kindergarten or Pre-K students, but I LOVED it with my first graders. They could use their during their literacy center rotations during their "Tech Center". I liked them being able to work/play games independently while practicing the weeks spelling and vocabulary words. Once you've created an account you are able to create your own word list or use their words list. There are many games that students are able to play on Spelling City that include phonics, phonological awareness, sound recognition activites and multiple activities for practicing vocabulary through writing and other games that help students retain the vocabulary they are learning. We have new vocabulary words each week. We click on the vocabulary word and it pulls up a different window.  There is a tab that you can click on that says routine and it defines the vocab word, gives and example, and then ask a question for the students to answer. There is another tab that you can click on that says example and on that tab there is a speaker that we can click on that will pronounce the vocab word and then it will read it in a sentence. It also provides a picture for the students to have a visual example.-Kara Webb

Welcome to the World of Blooket: a new take on trivia and review games!
The way it works is the teacher picks a question set and a unique game mode. Then a code is generated that players can use to join the game on their own devices. After the game starts, players will answer questions to help them win. Students are having fun learning the content you choose to add, or import lessons that Blooket has in a data bank. The teacher selects a game mode, and there is a variety of modes that will keep students engaged. Throughout the game session students will be answering review questions that are being taught in class. There are detailed score reports and question analysis to help you identify what students are understanding and what needs more review. I use this with my SPED students that are on so many different grade levels. I believe you could use this with any student K-5 and find success with classroom engagement and learning.

I'd use this in a third grade or higher classroom.  This could be completed as a class or individually. It could also be used with a variety of subjects. The example above is for science. 
For each vocabulary students roll a die. The number they land on tells them the activity to do.

1. Give a definition
2. Give a synonym & antonym
3. Write a sentence
4. Draw a picture
5. Make a connection
6. Your choice (they get to choose one of the above to do)

I have used this website in the second grade to teach fractions and I have used it as a resource to teach monomials in eighth graders in pre-algebra. I also have used it to teach story structure and author's purpose. With each lesson comes a vocabulary section that teaches key vocabulary for whatever lesson they are working on. Students love to interact with the website. There is a place to create music as you answer questions about the vocabulary correctly.
