Andy's Man Club want to eliminate the stigma surrounding Men's mental health and create a non-judgmental safe space when men can talk openly about the storms they are going through in their lives. A new branch is to open in Aldershot very soon.

Creative Response Arts is a small Farnham based charity offering arts-based workshops for people experiencing mental health, learning and physical difficulties. In their central Farnham studios, practising artists work collaboratively with participants from across Surrey and the surrounding areas, guiding and facilitating the creation of paintings, drawings, sculpture and ceramics.

Michael Austin Harlick Sports Awards - deadline 28th Oct 2024

The aim of this grant programme is to provide funding to sport groups towards the cost of sporting awards for young people aged 4-18. Grants are available to help with the purchase of challenge cups, shields, medals, team awards for sporting achievement in leagues and competitions only.

Michael Austin Harlick Fund offers grants of £200 – £1,000 for not-for-profit community organisations. The fund will only make grants to organisations based in AND supporting work within Hampshire (including Portsmouth and Southampton).

Hampshire Old Industrial & Reformatory Schools Fund (HOIRST) - deadline 30th Oct 2024

The HOIRST and Mace Educational Fund aims to support the development of young people who are 18 to 25 years old and are in or have been in care with Hampshire County Council (HCC) and are entering education.

Acceptable projects include funding for equipment related to an activity or course, driving lessons if essential for employment, and public transport costs if a railcard or subsidized travel scheme is necessary for the project or course.

Support Grants for Care Leavers - deadline 30th Oct 2024

Grants are for young people who are 18 to 25 years old and have been in care with Hampshire County Council, Isle of Wight Council, Southampton City Council or Portsmouth City Council.

SWEF Business Grants for Individuals - deadline 1st Nov 2024

SWEF Business Grants of up to £2,000 are available if you are a young person struggling to invest in your business venture and/or keen to take your business to the next level.

Applications solely for business ‘ideas’ will not be considered. You must be able to show that you have taken steps to get your business off the ground, even if it is at an early stage.

To be considered, organisations must be working to apply the principles of rewilding to benefit nature, climate and people. This includes, but is not limited to, community, private and public landowners and managers of rewilding areas on the land and sea. 

Applicants are encouraged to take an innovative approach to land and marine rewilding, which will help develop learning and evidence for others within the Rewilding Network. 

Projects must be at least 40 hectares in size, and can be either land-based or marine. Marine based projects can be any size. 

The closing date for applications is the 30th August 2024.

The three types of grant are:

• Community Grants (£720,000) so that community organisations can support local initiatives tailored to local needs, as well as for organisations or professionals working with families by exception to apply for urgent crisis funding.

• Advice Grants (£125,000) to deliver advice on budgeting, finances, maximising income or accessing other help.

• Community pantries and food support schemes (£550,000) for funding that will help provide vulnerable households with food via Community Pantries, with their projects being implemented prior to the end of the grant period.

Connect 5 is a three-part course designed to enhance the ability to have effective mental health conversations, based on the five ways to wellbeing. The training builds confidence, skills and provides tools to support proactive mental health and wellbeing.

It is not about being responsible for resolving serious conflicts or about placing yourself at risk, it is about having the ability to recognise and challenge those unacceptable behaviours when identified - and from there identify the best course of action to support someone in need, whether that be by diversion, providing sanctuary, simply connecting or signposting.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

• Discuss the extent of gender-based violence in England and Wales

• Discuss the role of bystanders in the prevention of abuse

• Identify a range of tools that can be used to safely support/challenge others

This report shares learnings from a decade of delivering skilled volunteering programmes and analyses the mutually beneficial rewards skilled volunteering offers businesses, employees and charities.

A survey found that 79% of those who took part said they were now much more likely to volunteer. 74% of participants agreed that the Big Help Out made them speak to their neighbours and 76% said that the event made them feel a stronger sense of belonging in their community.
