Up until College school was very easy for me. My Drafting teacher in the 11th and 12th Grade pushed me to be better than average. Almost had me go to school for Architecture, something I wish I had done. He was crazy enough to say things that other teachers wouldn't but it earned the respect of his students. The time I spent in his class for me was priceless. Though we were learning to draw machinery parts, houses, etc., there were a lot of life lessons in the things he taught us. He was real. He didn't sugar coat what was waiting for us after high school. He kept reminding me that I was different than the environment around me and the neighborhood I lived in. He taught me the value of seeing things thru to the end. He pushed me at a time when I, like a lot of kids and students, blended in due to being overshadowed by students who misbehaved.

I have been fortunate to have many influential teachers in my life. My second grade teacher, Mr. Chesnick, taught me to stick up for myself and be strong. He was full of positive energy and always made people smile. My fifth grade teacher, Mr. Working, inspired me to be a teacher through providing engaging and meaningful lessons that I have not forgotten. In 6th grade I had a teacher that was also a family friend, Mrs. Scott. She was always sweet and supported. She also taught me a fool proof way for getting rid of hiccups. My 6th grade art teacher was supportive during my parent's divorce. My 9th grade Algebra Based Physics teacher was awesome! He always had funny jokes and made the class more engaging that just about any other. My 9th grade chem teacher, Mr. Allevato was laid back. You had to work your tail off to get a good grade in his class and it was enjoyable. By the time I hit 12th grade and my BFF and I would stop at the convenience store on the way in and Mr. Allevato would let us in the side door (he knew we were straight A students). The list continues.... I was fortunate and hope to be the same influence for my students.

The teacher that I always remember is my fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Foglio. I honestly don't remember much about that year academics-wise. All I remember is that she was very relaxed, laid-back and truly cared about all of us. I went to catholic schools most of my life, so I also remember my principal Sister Kathleen. She was my mother's teacher in elementary school (I don't remember the grade), but it was cool to have that connection to her. She would always stop in the hall to talk to me.

I will always remember my third grade teacher, Mrs. Ngyuen. I remember her because she got me thinking about being a teacher. She was so kind and caring and her and I had a great relationship. She would always let me help her with things such as grading papers, hanging things up around the room, and other teacher-like tasks. Helping her with those little things made me feel like I teacher and I really enjoyed that. Like I said before, she was also so caring and always had nice things to say and even to this day I remember those comments.

There are a few teachers I remember as being particularly important to me, but the one who I feel had the most impact on me is Miss Sukle, who was my art teacher. I was lucky that when my school closed after 5th grade, she was moved to the middle school, and when they decided to move the freshman class to the high school, she moved again. I took every possible art class I could through high school mainly because she was so encouraging. Though I don't draw particularly well, she taught me to embrace my left-brainedness and encouraged me to focus on my writing. She was actually one of the first people to really get behind my love for computers, as she recognized the potential for artistic endeavors through technology.

Beloved West G teacher's life to be celebrated - The News-Herald

Irene Sukle's Artwork Donated to WomenSafe | Geauga County Maple ...

Having gone to school in four different states I had a lot of teachers. Some of them were really lousy. When I was being harassed by the popular kids they would make sarcastic remarks when I answered a question. Sadly, they were more interested in being part a of a children"s popular group than teaching their subject. I had some great teachers too. Mr. Krammer who let girls dissect in science. Mr. Gilelow who demanded I join the elite select choir even though I wasn't cool. Mr. Ron Micnowitz who pushed me to go to his alma mater for art and teaching. Sadly, Mr. Mic, with dry sense of humor and great ideas, died of aids. Hopefully, I would tell them that my classroom is a safe place for all the kids and to learn and create.

The first teacher was my third grade teacher Mrs. Bishop, I remember on earth day we went around the city and picked up garbage and ended the day at her moms house eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. She made learning fun. The second teacher was my 6th grade math teacher Mr. Sobul, math was always difficult for me but he took the time to explain concepts in different ways and I remember how excited I was when it finally clicked for me!

I think almost every teacher I had had an influence on me. I loved school. In third grade we had a long-term sub who actually came to my house to teach me because I had to be out of school in Germany for two weeks for my grandfather's funeral . I had a seventh grade biology teacher who really made me lone science and an eighth grade scocoal studies teacher who had me adoring history. They all had different strengths that I just ate up. However , for all that, my parents were the first and best teachers. They had high expectations and were there when I needed help. Thanks to my mother's perseverance, I speak a second language as well as my father's sage advice about it not being what you learn but knowing how you learn and how to find what you need.

My Grandpa Cuda is the one teacher that made the biggest difference in my life. While never my classroom teacher, he was a teacher in my life. My grandpa served the same school district for 37 years as a teacher, coach, and mentor. I remember going over to my grandparent's house every Saturday, and bringing any homework I needed help with. My grandpa helped me master multiplication! He inspired me to become a teacher when I saw the impact he made in so many lives, and how he still had students contacting him, even though he hadn't been teaching for many many years. I never really expressed to my grandpa how much he inspired me to be a teacher, but we always talked about me going to school to be a teacher and how things were going once I was in the classroom. If I could go back and tell him today, I would let him know how much I look up to him, and how I truly aspire to even be a fraction of the amazing teacher he was.
(...thanks for a tear jerker padlet this week...remembering my grandpa!)

Her name was Mrs. Connors I had her in 6th, 7th and 8th Grade and she always had different and exciting ideas. She had us study whales with Voyage of the Mimi and throw eggs off the building to see if we could create containers to stop them from breaking. She got to know us really well as students and was able to tell when something was wrong immediately. She even gave us her home phone number in case we had questions about our homework. If I saw her today I would thank her for putting up with my friends and I during our awkward middle school years.

I have been lucky enough to have some great teachers, starting with my mom. She went back to college when I was in middle school and watching her full fill her dream of being a teacher, at the age of 40, was truly amazing. My 9th grade English teacher, Ms. Rutigliano, made reading and English so much fun. We did so many projects to connect to the books we read, which made me want to actually read (typically I just used sparknotes). She definitely inspired me to want to be a teacher because she took the time to get to know her students and was always there for me. My varsity basketball coach, T.Ware, was another great teacher and by far the best coach I ever had. He always had us put our academics before basketball and de didn’t just teach us basketball but true life lessons. T.Ware has always been my inspiration to be a high school basketball coach. I had some of the worst PE teachers in school and I never thought about being one until I met Rhonda Hovatter, my PE advisor at OU. I had switched my major for the 5th time and Rhonda had helped me realized PE was the perfect for me. She was like a second mom to me in college and I am still in contact with her to bounce new PE ideas around with.

I wish I could say that it was one teacher that inspired me to become a teacher, but it isn't. It was many teachers over the years of me being a substitute teacher. As I look back on my school days, there were those teachers that stick in your mind. My eighth grade health teacher, MacArthur Thomas. He taught me that education does not always come from books but from life experiences. Mr. Barnes, freshmen Social Studies. Very tall man like Mr. Gamble. Mr. Barnes loved history and social studies. I remember the claymore sword that he brought to school for show and tell that he purchased in Scottland. That was so cool, made history come to life for me. He was an exchange teacher my Junior year. I thought that was amazing. Mr. Parobek taught physics through fun experiments. Mrs. Shelar was an avid Neil Diamond fan. Mr. Benford the Band director. He kept me believing in myself and to keep striving. I played the Trumpet/Coronet. Mrs. Crehore taught family living as was my T.I. (Teenage Institute advisor along with Mrs. Vincent) that taught me about interactions between people and families. Teenage Institute taught me about my own family dynamic and how to teach others about the effects of drug and alcohol abuse. My crazy French 2 teacher, Madame Nuttall. She was silly and energetic. Doing the play Death on the Nile in French was hard but she helped us through it. She shared her life stories with us; like why she always wore long sleeves. You will have to ask me about that one, lol!! And all the other teachers that I have not mentioned. They shared their passion for teaching with their students. Some shared their lives with their students. I have run into some of my past teachers as I subbed in my old schools. Many of them remember me and encouraged me to continue my pursuit of becoming a teacher. But the best teachers of them all are the students themselves. They have taught me more about myself then anyone. They have encouraged me to grow and learn more. They remind me of the silly things I did that touched their hearts or made them laugh. Or years later, the actual impact that I have had in their lives. I tell my past students and my special teachers thank you for making me who I am today. For the encouragement and love they gave me. For showing me that teaching is the interaction between teacher and student and the sharing of our life experiences. I am humbled and honored to be able to teach, learn, and grow here at Bella. Thank you
