I would act like President George Washington, who was all about this principle, and warned for political parties. It is not necessary, that Kurdistan shall be working as a "Western Democracy". Rather, it is important to know, that all humans cannot be able to always share the same values. The Kurds need To be aware of learning from each other, instead of fighting each other, like parties of another countries do. Everyone deserves the personal freedom and liberties with the additional and basic príncipe of Neutrality with others. We, as voters for the united Nations need to make all the states, who are today on the geographical and historic region of Kurdistan, aware of the principe of Neutrality. And as long as we work together just with these encountering four countries (Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria) , The Chance will be high for agreement and understandment.

The energy process that we’re now using is burning fossil fuels for energy which causes greenhouse gas emissions. The SDG’s that are concerned with this issue are climate change, affordable and clean energy, and also education because awareness is important and people need to know more about the risks of the energy process we’re currently using.

Solution: We have to find alternative energy uses that are renewable and more sustainable such as solar energy to generate power for our communities instead of the nonrenewable fossil fuel energy that we are using currently.

In the 21st century, the world faces many significant issues that cause plenty of damages and distract the environment. However, the Kurdistan- Iraq region has massive impactions on it depending on utilizing overuse of resources. For instance, solid waste management, pollution due to automobiles, water pollution, cement industry, air pollution, and oil refineries. In addition, the most primary point is air pollution that induces toxic air, climate change, unhealthy generations, more and different types of diseases such as cancer, effect on animals and trees, and..........Etc.
Therefore, we have opportunities and more alternatives to overcome the air pollution issues depending on the usage of resources we have; for example, we can restrict the usage of gas, electricity, water, and solids when we do not need them. Also, we can walk, ride a bike, or use public transportation instead of individual cars, so it causes to reduce the crowds on roads, use less fuel for vehicles, and get a better breath for the earth. On the other hand, pollution depended on increasing cement production, which indicated an overall increased level of pollution by 13.78 times between 2004 and 2010. That is attributed to an increase in cement production by the same proportion during this period.
To conclude, people should reduce the side effects that bring humanity and earth to danger and explosion. Also, we have to keep an eye on making the world better to save our lives and future generations.

* Reference for second point: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/330957571_Pollution_Issues_in_Iraqi_Kurdistan_Region

Problem statement: The Rochester community needs to take action on climate change and make small steps toward reducing our energy usage, because the actions we take now versus later can lead to reversing the damage we've done to our planet and lead us to live better lives not only for ourselves, but for the future generations.

Solution: In order to reduce our energy usage, we can make even the smallest change of switching from regular lightbulbs to LED lightbulbs. This switch alone not only will save money on electric bills, but will cut down on energy usage collectively as a community. A common misconception is that LED bulbs are more expensive, when it's actually cheaper for LED, and their "lifetime" is much longer than that of a regular lightbulb. Making this known will hopefully get people to be more open to the idea of making the switch, and it's just one tiny change toward climate change and "un-doing" what we have done to our planet. We only get one planet and one life to lead, we should be making the best of what we've got and be taking care of something so precious!

Problems statement:

Issues we found in both Kurdistan and the USA were having a lack of resources, not being taught how to deal with real-world problems or everyday things and having better curriculum training, teachers focusing more on students getting good grades rather than learning the material, and assuring that everyone has an equal learning opportunity. Kurdistan found that they needed better syllabus design and assuring that their textbooks are chosen by experts/scientific committees. The USA found they needed an overall change from the subjects they were being taught (little to no real courses that teach needed knowledge including but not limited to; how to do taxes, sex ed., applying for jobs, etc.)

Solutions:

A way to solve the issue of lack of resources would be revisiting the way money is redistributed now and finding a new way to try and even it out more. If not possible then allow fundraisers and donations to be made. This would also help solve the issue of lack of funding for materials that need to be updated such as textbooks, technology, desks, etc. Lack of courses on common life duties can be solved by reevaluating the basic needs of educational learning (math, science, history, English) and replacing the unnecessary ones with ones that will teach students how to pay bills, get a job, pay taxes, apply for health insurance, etc. All of which could be taught as one course to not remove too many of the educational classes. A big thing we found was that teachers and parents are usually more worried about grades than if the students are actually learning and properly storing information. Having teachers assure we are learning what they are teaching and not just tiny bits of information that will assure we pass but we will forget for future reference along with giving teachers proper training on how to react to feedback from students appropriately regardless of it being negative or positive. A way to solve this issue is making sure teachers teach at a pace where everyone can follow and using tests as a self-evaluation on how the way they are teaching is making sure that students have access to learn the material whatever their learning type might be.

Problem Statement
Any nation is most successful when it can maximize the potential of its citizens to contribute to the greater good of society but higher education is unaffordable for many Americans. In an increasingly globally competitive marketplace, a highly educated workforce is essential for continued economic success, especially as an increasing number of lower-skilled jobs shift to other countries and robotics combined with A.I. continue to replace human workers. The problem is not so much the cost of tuition, which in community colleges can be covered by State and Federal Student Aid grants, as it is the cost of living. Due to the well-publicized fact that many college graduates struggle for most of their working lives (some even into retirement) to pay off their student loans, some new students are unwilling to apply for student loans to subsidize the gap between their low income and ever-increasing living expenses, which are especially high in large cities where many colleges and universities are located. When students have to work full-time and are stressed about finances, their odds of success in full-time coursework are diminished.

Solution Statement
Our proposed solution is a Universal Basic Income (UBI), similar to the one popularized by millionaire businessman and philanthropist, Andrew Yang during his 2019 presidential campaign. Unlike raising the minimum wage, which increases business costs and thus leads to inflation, a UBI would be paid directly to all citizen households, earning less than a determined income ceiling, by the U.S. government. This income would replace most existing welfare programs, and though it would be insufficient to completely cover the living expenses of these households, it would assist them in paying enough of the basic living expenses that they could afford to work part-time while attending college full-time, or allow them to afford to pay off existing student loans (rendering unnecessary, proposals that the federal government forgives all existing student loans), or allow at least one parent to spend more time at home to assist in their children’s primary education. Because this allows citizens to choose how to spend what is then their own money, those who chose to spend it affording higher education will place a greater value on that opportunity, thus working harder to be successful in college.

Today I’m going to share something about the water sanitation issue in Iraq. This is a problem that has been around for many years and does not seem to ever plan on stopping. Iraq has many issues like every country out there, but one thing that causes many people to get sick or stay thirsty, is the terrible conditions of the water sources here. People tend to dispose of their trash on the floor, and most of it ends up in waters. When we go on picnics, and we see a lake next to us, usually you’d think that the water is drinkable, but then your parents tell you to stay out of it because you don’t know what is in there. Even water coolers at other places, whether it was a house or a business building, are hard to trust. I remember once during my high school years, a bunch of students got sick and the administration later found out that the boxes of water bottles they brought in have been left out in the sun for too long and ended up giving the water itself a bad taste. The school got rid of the water bottles and did not bring any more in for a few weeks, so students had to bring their own in case they got thirsty. What needs to be done is that not only the government, but the entire country ensures that the waters remain clean and free of any debris that gets tossed in. it is important to do because this way, there will be water available for drinking everywhere, especially for the homeless or poor people.

Money can be generated from the trash that is collected and localized organizations who participate in the International Water Clean Up Day can also fund raise with merchandise like shirts, hats etc. Money can be granted from governments to orchestrate larger objectives and areas of concern. Money can be made in the form of a challenge to clean 50lbs of trash in addition to a donation (similar to the "Ice-Bucket Challenge"). Many more aspects can be developed in this way. Aloha!!!

Problem:

People of Hawaii need a way to fix roads damaged by them because are a safety hazard to all using the road. Due to the weather in Hawaii, there are many potholes that develop on the roads. The potholes cause an inconvenience to all user of the road and often get “quick fixes” that are cost effective, but not long lasting. This is usually due to poor planning, poor quality of work, or all the above. Thanks to these potholes, millions have been spent over the past few years alone, varying from personal damage repairs to road repairs.

Another problem in Hawaii is the lack of recycling done by the people, due to our limited recycling capabilities. The products that are barely recycled include, bottles, cans, glass bottles, and cardboard. The people of Hawaii, need a way to recycle more plastic goods because if not recycled, such items will commonly end up in the trash, contributing to our landfills.

Solution:

In Kenya a woman by the many of Nzambi Matee has developed a method transforming plastic waste, into strong durable bricks. (To learn more please click this link, Meet the woman turning Kenya's plastic waste problem into a building solution: Plastic bricks - CBS News) I propose that Hawaii adopts Nzambi Matee’s way of turning plastic into bricks for two reasons. The first reason is because I believe that we can provide a more semi-permanent solution to fixing our potholes along with allowing us to reuse our plastics that are not being recycled. This allowing us to keep the cost of materials down while at the same time allowing us to recycle plastic materials.

Companies keep clearing forests, cutting down trees, clearing fields and build companies, structures, skyscrapers. They changed our landscapes! How can we help protect our health and our future?

Solution: Everywhere in the world, countries and their communities are working on their own solutions on green climate ideas and put in action in their countries. The schools everywhere also in the world are teaching children about the environment. One of the solutions I thought of was to have a unified United Nations day around the world each country to make this one day a year for every person to plant a tree whether is in their backyard, parks, fields, mountains. There are people and children in schools already doing this and this helps but if we all can do this together in one day every year, we can restore our landscapes and our countries and our planet will benefit from trees that would help our ecosystem filter clean air, rain water to settle in the earth and wildlife to continue to grow. We need forests, green life around us in order to have clean air and to restore what we lost from fires. We need everyone in this world to value our world's air quality. The United Nation have a representative from each country and they can help make this happen. Thank you

Our group came up with a lot of great issues that our community is facing and chose to focus on gun violence and their statement of the problem is: "The community of Champaign needs a way to feel safe from gun violence because it is harmful to mental and emotional well- being." Since the pandemic our city has seen an increasing number of shootings and deaths due to gun use. Our solutions focused on helping the next generation develop better skills at dealing with conflict, mental development, and other coping skills. These solutions involved having more spaces where kids can learn social skills and a safe space to interact, more behavioral intervention programs to help keep kids in school, establishing more gun safety programs etc. The second area we focused on was more social services for people currently involved such as programs to help people get out of gun violence cycle, More community programs to get community involved in helping reduce violence. more hotlines to voice concerns to law enforcement, more referrals to social agencies and access to counselors.

In many countries, pollution of some water resources has become a big problem ٫ That if not treated, it will cause the spread of various transmitted diseases .Some of the rivers and lakes of Kurdistan are not out of this problem ٫ Some of them are even used for drinking by people.

Team 1
Ifeanyi Esonye
Central Georgia Technical College

Millions of children around the globe face different forms of exploitation, these include trafficking and child labor. The impeding effect of this sort of injustice around the world has worsen with the outbreak of the pandemic. Increased child trafficking has tested, weakened and shattered many countries’ system of rights and protection. This increased risk is due to effect of the pandemic, vulnerability of security system and economic distress. Globally, one in three trafficking victims detected in 2018 were children; in low-income countries, the share was one half. Girls are primarily victims of sexual exploitation (72 percent labor (66 percent of detected boy victims) UN SDG. 2020.

Most exploited nations are in Asia and Africa due to increased poverty and lack of appropriate security systems. The easy passage of these trafficker away from the affected nations are made possible due to bribery at all highest level. Most cases of child trafficking have been seen to be results of sold-out slavery by family members of victims due to poverty. This act has most times been proven ignorance on the family members with promises from the traffickers that they want to take their children oversees and offer them scholarships or jobs. In Nigeria 2010, it was a common practice how girls from the ages of 16-25 were taken to Libya with promises of getting good jobs and schooling. These traffickers gave the family members money with promises that their ward will become successful, but unfortunately, the children got there and became sexual tools to the make money.

National human rights institutions (NHRIs) are independent bodies that promote and protect human rights. They have played a critical role during the pandemic by examining and monitoring impacts on health and other areas and by highlighting the human rights implications of the crisis. They have also combated the spread of inaccurate and misleading information and worked to protect vulnerable groups. In 2020, 82 countries had independent NHRIs that successfully achieved compliance with international standards, a 17 per cent improvement from 2015. One in three LDCs now have an internationally compliant NHRI, compared with one in five in 2015. These gains, however, are not enough to meet the 2030 target. Progress has stalled in most regions, where no new independent NHRIs have been recognized or established since 2018. Efforts will need to be redoubled to establish and strengthen NHRIs and ensure broader access to human rights promotion and protection service. UN SDG, 2020.

Problem statement: The scarcity of energy is a major problem in the globe also in our vicinity Kurdistan region. Lacking of energy materializes large number of problems. Demands for energy rises substantially. The fears rise of not meeting the demands. Environmental concerns and demands for energy are clearly on a collision course. Exponential growth of population rates and energy consumption outpaces the nation's capacity to produce sufficient energy from domestic sources.

Solution statement:
Access to modern, affordable, clean and reliable energy is something we wouldn't survive without, that's why it has been put as one of the SDGs. The facts of energy require consideration of both the present and the future. Immediate steps must be taken to obtain sufficient energy to avoid an economic collapse within a decade, to build an energy bridge to the next century, and to find an eternal energy source, or a combination of several sources, to ensure future energy availability. Several courses of action seem to be necessary: energy conservation, development of synthetic fuels from coal, and massive, immediate funding of research for the development of an additional long-lived energy source, such as fusion, sunlight, wind, and geothermal. Energy conservation must become a major concern for these times and perhaps for the remainder of man's life on earth. Historically, energy has been used without regard to environmental consequences and the finite nature of the supply. There are some eco-friendly methods to produce clean energy without any dramatic negative impacts on environment: i) Wind power, wind to produce energy has fewer effects on the environment than many other energy sources. Wind turbines do not release emissions that can pollute the air or water (with rare exceptions), and they do not require water for cooling. ii) Sea-thermal power, it has the potential of being a very clean alternative energy – unique for a firm power source capable of providing massive energy needs.
iii) Solar energy, The sun provides more than enough energy to meet the whole world's energy needs, it is a fact that
every day the sun sheds on the earth a power equivalent to 30,000 times present power needs. iv) Hydropower, It is clean, enewable, reliable, rivers aren't going to stop flowing unless they go dry. Long term costs can be low. While the initial plant and infrastructure is pretty expensive, it requires relatively few workers and upkeep is cheap. So the average cost per unit of energy can be quite low in the long run. Hydropower also produces a number of benefits outside of electricity generation, such as flood control, irrigation support, and water supply. All these methods can serve humanity in eco-friendly ways without putting a single human being at risk but a very few which are inevitable accidents of mother nature.

No single country, sector, organization, or discipline can solve the global sustainability issues we face today, which is why SDG 17, 'Partnerships for the Goals,' is critical, as it recognizes the need for multi-stakeholder partnerships to share knowledge and expertise in order to achieve global sustainability. Building such alliances is critical for developing countries with limited resources.
In implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, world leaders have a historic opportunity to reduce inequality, alleviate poverty, preserve the environment, and promote justice and peace. Any success, or even failure, will be primarily determined by SDG 17, which aspires to revitalize universal development partnerships.

Problem Statement:
In today’s economies and societies, digital connections are crucial – instant communication between individuals, bank transfers, office work, public dissemination of information, or data analysis are only some of the activities that depend on the internet. Regions without fast internet connections have serious social and economic disadvantages in a digitalised world.
Many non-Internet users are also fearful of the technology. There is a general anxiety associated with learning how to use the Internet. Some also describe fear about 21st century threats like, “computer viruses, hacking, surveillance, or identity theft.”

Solution Statement:
The world today is more interconnected than ever before, in part due to digital technology. The SDGs can only be realised with a strong commitment to global partnership and cooperation. Coordinating policies to help developing countries, particularly least-developed countries, is vital to achieving sustainable growth and development. This includes supporting these countries in managing their finances, including debt, as well as promoting investment. by supporting developing countries through official development assistance.

3 ways to provide Internet access to the developing world:

1. Zero rating services:

A lack of disposable income is a major factor that prevents many from gaining Internet access. Users must also pay for data in addition to the cost of a device. Zero rating services circumvent this barrier by providing access to applications that have no associated data costs. For example Wikipedia and Facebook(in Iraq) makes a zero rated version of their app available, which is free to use. This practice has huge potential to provide the benefits of the Internet to all people.

2. Reducing taxes:

Several countries have “connectivity taxes” on mobile and fixed Internet connections. These taxes drive up costs for consumers, which can make the Internet unaffordable for many families. In some cases it also reduces the incentives for Internet Service Providers to make infrastructure investments in underserved areas. Research has shown that reducing these types of taxes can increase the number of Internet users.

3. Diversifying content:

English is the primary language of the Internet. This excludes millions of educated people who could use the Internet if content were available in their native tongue. Expanding the type of content on the Internet would also increase its attractiveness for people around the world.

Fortunately there are a number of options available to governments who seek to mitigate barriers to Internet access for their poorest citizens. New policies are necessary to make sure that all people regardless of the socio-economic status have access to the benefits of the Internet.

“Poverty is the worst form of violence”. – Mahatma Gandhi.

Poverty is defined as a situation in which a family's fundamental necessities, such as food, housing, clothes, and education, are not met. It can lead to additional issues such as low literacy, unemployment, and starvation, among others. Due to a lack of money, a poor person is unable to receive an education and hence remains unemployed. Unemployed people are unable to provide sufficient and healthy food for their families, and their health suffers as a result. A person who is weak lacks the necessary energy for the work. A unemployed individual will always be impoverished. As a result, we might claim that poverty is the basis of all other issues.

Solution Statement

Poverty is a problem that has proven solutions, and giving plays a crucial role in combating extreme poverty,
Donations will help Eradicate poverty by breaking the cycle for the world’s neediest people, not every donation needs to be monetary . You can donate clothing, food, and even gently used household items that you no longer need. When it comes to helping others, every donation, large or small, counts.

The aim is to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all. In my society young people are suffering to find a suitable job or even they don't. Individuals who are unemployed are often more susceptible to several challenges, including difficulty in finding future employment and decreased income. Unemployment also impacts society and the economy as a whole. The longer a person is unemployed, the more likely they are to experience potential negative effects and contribute to the multiplier effect that unemployment has on the community.

Solution statement:

Providing youth the best opportunity to transition to a decent job calls for investing in education and training of the highest possible quality, providing youth with skills that match labour market demands, giving them access to social protection and basic services regard less of their contract type, as well as levelling the playing field so that all aspiring youth can attain. productive employment regardless of their gender, income level or socio-eco nomic background.
Governments can work to build dynamic, sustainable, innovative and people-centred economies, promoting youth employment and women's economic empowerment, in particular, and decent work for all.

Team1
Esonye Ifeanyi
Central Georgia Technical College

The intense subjection of women and children to forced labor and prostitution can be widely seen in Nigeria and this trafficking trend has been manipulated into different modules even with the monitoring of international community. The Nigerian wave of immigration to Europe had already begun in the 80s, when mostly women saw a possibility of economic improvement by leaving Africa and moving to Europe. many of them travelled with false documents and became prostitutes in European cities as finding regular jobs were difficult without legal status in the country Tereza Ciupkova 2022.

Trafficking of children sprung up on Nigeria’s government watchlist in the 90s with the constant kidnapping of children between the ages of 7-14, and these children were never heard of nor seen till date. With the fast acquisition of visas to Europe back then, the abductors of these children were able to get them out of the country while some used sea or land means of transportation which were longer and dangerous. Now, the trafficking trend has gone beyond slavery, labor and prostitution, receding into ritual killings and other fetish purposes.

Millions of children around the globe face different forms of exploitation and impeding effect of this sort of injustice around the world, as situations has worsened with the outbreak of the pandemic UN SDG. 2020. 2020.
