Title: 4 elements of Hiphop
Artist: hopsart
In this piece of art, the main bases of Hiphop are detailed. Breakin/B-Boyin, DeeJayin, Writin/Graffiti Art, and emceein. Its spelled like this because they are elements just like any other element on the periodic table. Building blocks and supporting pillars of Hiphop. These four elements are what form and spread Hiphop, its culture and style.
The mood I find in the piece is pride, enjoying what you have, appreciating and doing what you love.
the colors shown resemble the new world u step into when you are in a party. The colors completely consume the characters shown like if they are in a new environment when they do their thing. the pointing finger is to the audience of people just like the MC and newcomers who are intrigued by the music and culture. The spray can in the graffiti artists hand is the continuous practice of graffiti art that still lives on from very early in time and is expressing what you feel when you feel like it. Not blending in to society but influencing it. The B-Boy shows his attitude with his crossed arms because he knows no one can stop him, he is firm in his belief. He expresses himself through break dancing speaking what he believes through his physical movement. The DJ is the mood setter and flow stylist. He controls the music as seen with his hand on the vinyl remaking it to his view or feel. DeeJayin is the way people manipulate sounds, timbres, technology, and mix to create something new. Throughout Hiphop's history there have been many influential women playing these important roles.
The sound of an art piece is based in the emotions or thoughts it causes. in this example, the sound would be a mix of old soulful music resembling the tradition, beginnings, and homage to icons in Hiphop remixed playing the breaks over and over and some classic unique sounds ranging in different types of extraordinary with ordinary or traditional sounds and instruments mixed together. Some funk vocals and even usual sounds of an environment where Hiphop is very great in influence like New York can be used into the instrumental expression. It would either sound very dissonant and have an aggressive melody or be very smooth with a moving rhythm.
