When it's cold and rainy, and I feel sad, I think of my mom's Chole Bhature. It's a special chickpea dish with a hint of pomegranate. The cool part? She adds a teabag, making it taste smoky and different. With this, we have bhaturas, which are like fried bread, and some crispy onion rings. This meal always reminds me of home and makes me feel warm inside. Eating it is like getting a big hug from my mom. It's my go-to food when I want something that feels cozy and reminds me of good times with my family.
Culturally Responsive Clinical Practice: Working with People from Migrant and Refugee Backgrounds competency standards framework for clinicians

As a first-year nursing student, I have been deeply immersed in the healthcare needs of migrant and refugee populations. Their diverse healthcare choices have opened my eyes to the importance of respecting cultural differences. I have reflected on my own beliefs and biases as a result of this experience, emphasizing how healthcare requires continuous personal growth.

The more I study, the more I realize providing effective care is not solely a matter of textbook knowledge. Respecting diverse cultures and recognizing their intricacies is equally important. As a result of this realization, I've realized how crucial collaboration is, especially when working with interpreters. As a result, I understand how important it is for our patients to be well informed about the context and nuances of our interactions with them.

As a result of my coursework, lectures, and group discussions, I have gained insight into Domain 7. I learned how important it is to avoid cultural biases and ensure every patient feels both understood and respected. Trust is a foundational aspect of nursing, and Domain 7 offers valuable guidance in this regard. It is my goal in my academic and professional journey to embed these lessons into every encounter, ensuring every patient feels safe, understood, and cared for holistically (Migrant & Refugee Women’s Health Partnership, 2019).

Migrant & Refugee Women’s Health Partnership.

1. Environment : As a nursing student in my first year, I am realizing how much our environment affects us. The fact that minorities and low-income people are more likely to be exposed to harmful conditions in their neighborhoods is disheartening. Where we live and work plays a huge role in our well-being; it's not just about individual choices. An environment that is safe for everyone is important (Healthy People 2030, 2021).
2. Housing : I've discovered that although migrants find town housing affordable, initial settlement services can be lacking. Some experience isolation or are given unsuitable homes.
3. Healthcare Access: I realize the importance of healthcare access as a first-year nursing student. It's troubling that many people don't have health insurance or live too far away from providers. When conditions are not properly treated, they can worsen. Clearly, we need better solutions to ensure everyone, regardless of location or income, has access to quality healthcare (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2020).

World Health Organization.

1. Mental health : In my first year of nursing school, I have learned that refugees often suffer from mental health problems. Before coming to Australia, many people faced hard times. They have a hard time adjusting once they arrive because they don't understand the language. Depending on their past traumas, they may feel scared, sad, or have physical pains due to emotional stress. In order to get them the right help, there are big challenges. The healthcare system here makes some people sick, and some are sick because of their cultural backgrounds. I have been thinking a lot about it. My goal as a nurse is to better understand and help them. Having been a student, I understand how important it is to be aware of these challenges and find ways to improve their lives. I consider it an integral part of my learning process
2. Skin infections : The skin problems of young African refugees in Melbourne in 2005 were common. It is possible for non-infectious conditions to affect the appearance of the skin. It is possible for skin conditions to appear differently on dark skin. We have included a few rare diseases for your reference. It is routine to inspect the skin during routine health checks.
3. HIV : HIV is a global concern, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. In Australia, many immigrants, mainly from Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia, are diagnosed. Early treatment enhances health and curbs transmission.

Australian Refugee Health» Primary Care for People of Refugee Backgrounds.

As far as I am concerned, being healthy is not the only aspect of health that is important. Our bodies, minds, spirits, and relationships all need to be balanced in order for us to be happy and healthy. In order to maintain good health, it is essential to eat a healthy diet, live a balanced lifestyle, and focus on positive energy. The relationship between one or more of these factors and the sense of health or wellbeing can be affected when one or more of them are not aligned (Bautista-Valarezo et al., 2020).

Bautista-Valarezo, E., Duque, V., Verdugo Sánchez, A.

I grew up embracing Hinduism, a complex mosaic of beliefs originating in the Indus Valley between 2300 and 1500 B.C. Our spiritual upbringing was dominated by the Vedas, with their sacred rituals and hymns. In the years that followed, my reverence for deities like Vishnu, Shiva, and Devi grew. In addition, I witnessed the emergence of Buddhism and Jainism, observing the interplay of different spiritual paths. A fundamental part of my understanding was the concept of dharma, which provided guidance on leading a righteous life (History.com Editors, 2017).

History.com Editors.
