Transportation may be a dharuriyyah if it is required to get to work or essential places. Savings might fall into the hajiyyah category because it is important to plan for future needs. However, it is needed to balance both, deciding what's more urgent.

iii) What trade-offs do you feel comfortable making, and why?

I am comfortable with trade-offs of entertainment for groceries and food because I need groceries and food more than the need of entertainment.
