- Among reported cases of childhood abuse and neglect over a 10-year period, over 70 percent of them involved drug or alcohol abuse.
- Recent research shows about nine percent of all American children live with at least one parent who abuses drugs or alcohol.

In order to prevent drug addiction we need to combat the issue by directly informing those who are easily influenced. 
Drug addiction generally starts in the pre-teen or teen years. This time in young people’s lives is when they often like to experiment with drugs and alcohol, and many get hooked.
