The dusty oil town of Odessa, and I can't imagine living anywhere else.  Our population is roughly 110,000 +/-  25,000 if we are in the midst of an oil boom or bust.  My parents, like many others came to Odessa for job opportunities, with the plans of coming for a few years and then moving.  They all chose to stay because the offerings for better did not exist and Odessa was a good safe town to raise a family.  This is part of the reason I've chosen to stay put.]]> 2022-03-13 04:24:27 UTC https://padlet.com/lovejaad/yd2szpaxi0yynjin/wish/2092032502 lovejaad https://padlet.com/lovejaad/yd2szpaxi0yynjin/wish/2092033372 I come from a family of educators that believe in nourishing and showing love to each other and our fellow man.  My parents taught by example that an education gets a foot in the door, and your gifts and hard work will keep you in the door, in fact you could even be given the key. They impacted my morality the most.  They taught me by example, not just words. My father, the late George Love, Sr. worked hard to provide for his family by teaching students at multiple levels, many times the same day for over 35 years.  My mother, Laverne, was a choral and music teacher for over 35 years, in addition to 7 years as a retired substitute. They lived a life in the public and showed what it is to have "a good name".  This is the character I was taught and hope to not only live but instill in my own children.  My brother George and I followed in their footsteps, not only in education, but being of service to our fellow man.  My brother is an Administrator for over 15 years, he met his wife Leila while they were both attending Texas Tech. My husband, Vincent and I were married March 16, 2012.  Don't let the 10 years fool you, we've known and loved each other since we were elementary age.  Prior to our marriage we had children Christian (25) and Daisharay (27).  To our union we have a daughter Jazayah (9 but going on 19).  Christian and Daisharay were both bit by the pandemic bug and had children.  Layla (7/16) Kyrie (10/29) both turned one in 2021.  This picture is of Kyrie's dedication.  Daisharay and Layla are missing from this picture.  Recently, we discovered we will be gaining another grandson due March 2023, Zander shall be his name.
I must include that the desire to get an education stung my husband.  "Thanks" to the pandemic, after over 35 years, my husband started back to school.  In addition, despite the delays, my son will not be denied, he earned his Associates Degree in music last semester and is on the fast track to completing is his Bachelors.

With a major in History and a minor in math, the idea of continuing an education beyond that was not the plan, I had had enough of school at this point. Less than 10 years later, Alverno found me. Characteristics that were developed from all of this? Tech humbled me. My church choir and church families serve as a great source of support.  When I do not have enough energy to pray for myself, I know they are.  They continue to encouragement to achieve my goals and desires of my heart.
