The number of peregrine falcons dropped due to the pesticide DDT. The pesticide got into the birds system and caused the shells of their eggs to crack to early. Since the eggs cracked to early the eyeasses ( baby peregrine falcons ) were not fully developed which caused most of the eyeasses to die. Farmers stopped using it in a way it wold hurt them.
