The Randolph Caldecott Medal (1938-present): Given to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.

The Pura Belpré Award honors the first Latina librarian at the New York Public Library.  The award is given to a Latino/a writer and illustrator whose work best portrays the Latino culture. 

International Literacy Association has the following awards for literature:
- Children's Choice (1974),
- YA Choice (1986) and
- Teacher's Choice (1989)

The Wilder Award was renamed in June 2018 over the racial insensitivity.  The ALA wanted to distance themselves from culturally insensitive portrayals from her books, which condemned the Native American culture.  The name change is now the Children's Literature Legacy Award. 

The Texas Library Association (TLA) hosts the Texas Bluebonnet Award which is solely based on student vote from a list of 20 books.

Was is for being culturally diverse?
