Eighteen and forty." ( Page 30). This quote stand out to me because it shows me how much the inmate cared about the Elie and the other people who had just got to the camp. Also shows me how Elie and his father did not understand that they had to lie about themselves in order for them to not die or be used as a "testdumby" for the doctor. In my opinion this is changing more about themselves and making them less like themselves. Ever though the man was trying to help them they and that this was not really taking away there humanity, I still think in a way it changed them and how they were as people.

times; the world would never tolerate such crime..." ( page 33). This to me shows me that Elie didn't really know what was happening to all the people that got sent to the camps. It also shows me that all the rumors and what Moishe the beetle had said was finally hitting Elie that they were actually true. He also explains to me that he did not think that people of his time would do that and why the world had come to this. I totally agree with him it was horrible that people would do this and also something else that stands out to me is that I feel that the people in charge of running the camp and the solider had also lost some of there humanity. I say that because it is not normal for people to just start killing people and for people to start doing that they had to have lost there voice in the world and were doing as they were told. It is just something I feel that even though they did those horrible things, I also feel they would of had to have lost some humanity for them to just listen to one guy telling them to kill all these innocent people.
