The slave trade in the US was a very profitable way of making money. The slaves provided free labor after they bought them. People could also buy and resell the slaves just like goods to make more money. The slaves were not treated as humans but as goods themselves. They would be beaten and punished if they did not do their job right, broke something, or tried to escape and would possibly be killed. The slave trade either came from Africa or they were shipped from Europe but they still came from Africa. Some of the slaves died during their voyage to the US due to crammed spaces and diseases to where they could die. The space was so small they could even suffocate. Overall they were treated as property and used for the benefit of the owners p, his resulted in the slaves living a harsh life of being beaten and possible killed.

The slave trade was the product of European expansion that needed a system of labor. Since there was a shortage of native Americans due to diseases the Europeans unintentionally spread the Europeans needed an easy system to coerce slaves. Thus the slave trade was born. Changing how the Europeans viewed African Americans even though the Declaration of Independence stated "all men are created equal". Europeans found themselves superior making them "unequal" Europe and Africa became unequal and between black and white. The main reason why the slaves were coerced to labor was agriculture. Many crops needed mass amounts of labor to grow and harvest them. The main crops landowners would try to grow would be sugar, tobacco, coffee, rice and eventually cotton. Starting slowly it went wide spread propelling the economic transformation of leading colonial powers. They eventually went forms slaves to a multitude of diverse labor. Including warriors, government officials, wives, concubines, tutors, eunuchs, and victims to ritual sacrifice. The slaves were treated horribly depending on his/her owner. Punishments would vary maybe if you attempted to run away you were to be tortured or killed. They would do anything to keep there slaves in line to get the task done even if it meant death. They did not deserve this human beings are no ones property, but that's what they were treated as. Property. Animals. It was not right.

Slave trade was a very common thing in European societies. The shortage in the number of Native Americans has decreased because of the diseases brought to the Americas by the Europeans. The Natives were not immune to these diseases therefore killing most of the Native population. This left the Europeans resorting to another group of people to use as slaves. The Africans. This is when the African slave trade started. Did you know that 8 of the first 12 presidents were slaveholders? Abolitionists and other people viewed slavery as a sin. As the population was very scarce they requested for even more African slaves. As more plantations spread throughout the area, more slaves were imported. The masters were usually Europeans or European descendants. And the slaves were usually Africans or Natives or their descendants. When slaves were punished they were punished by getting whipped very harshly. Most slaves were put to work producing goods such as sugar, coffee, tobacco, rice, and later they would start producing cotton as well. The religion, race, and nationality of the slaves also somewhat affected how the masters would treat them. Slave treatment varied between different people and areas.

Slave trade is when you obtain a slave and put them on a market to sell to people, and gain money from their purchases. Slave trade started in the Americas when the Europeans didn't have much people for free labor, so they started taking immune Africans to the Americas and made them slaves. Most slaves traveled through the middle passage in the Atlantic Ocean on large ships. The Europeans used slaves on plantations to ear a lot of money. Most plantations grew cotton, for it gave the plantation owners a lot of money, and were able to buy more slaves to make more money. Cotton gave plantation owners so much money that it got the name, "White gold," which just says how much money these people received. Without the free labor, these plantation owners would not have got this much money. Saves were also treated very poorly. Many of them were not fed much at all, and if one was killed by their owner, then it wasn't considered murder. Many of them died on the middle passage, because it was super cramped which spread disease much faster. They also didn't receive much food at all on the middle passage. Many slaves died before they even got to America.

I would describe the slave trade as a misguided way to build faster and more things. I say this because in the text it said "Western slavery was a product of European expansion." In the colonies it meant they where used for building and expanding and convenience because they could not take a lot of people over. They also at the time they did not believe they where human and they thought they where higher so they whipped and treated them horribly because at the time they could always get a new slave because there were ships full of slaves. Finally in the end they realized the mistake. So they all became thought as humans and not like robots.
Cites- American Slavery 1619-1877

The treatment of slaves was terrible and 1 in 6 slaves died just on the way to where they were being shipped to. They all were forced to stay underneath ship decks and were treated terribly.

The slave trade was when the Europeans went over to Africa and brought back people to work as slaves. There weren't enough Indians in American for the settlers needs so they took people from Africa. The conditions on the way over were very crammed. They were forced to lay in the cargo of the ship. They were squished together in spaces about as big as a coffin. 1 in every 6 died of suffocation, starvation, or suicide. Slaves were forced to do a lot of labor. Not only were they house keepers and fieldworkers, but they worked as warriors, government officials, wives, concubines, tutors, eunuchs, and victims of ritual sacrifice. Slaves were severely beaten or sometimes killed for minors punishments. A slaveholder was not charged with murder if they killed as slave while they were receiving their punishment, so they could be very harsh.

The slave trade was the time from 1526 to 1867 when about 12.5 million slaves were shipped from Africa to the American Colonies. They were shipped across the Atlantic Ocean in small cramped spaces chained together. Although slaves had served many uses throughout history slave labor American colonists predominantly used their labor for the growing of crops. The use of slave labor provided a way for masters to make a profit on growing staple crops of sugar tobacco rice and later cotton. Slaves were often threatened to be punished if they did not work or tried to escape. The use of slaves helped create unequal relationships between blacks and whites in the colonies.
