- Agenda Topic 1- We went over the Haiku and how it relates to the quote, the haiku demonstrates how the struggles we go through and the pain we feel( scars) remind us of our past and how we can’t escape our pasts. 
-Agenda Topic 2- We spoke about the rhetorical devices used in the quote. We analyzed the characterization that is used. This example of indirect characterization efficiently allows the reader to create an understanding of John Cole. 
- Agenda Topic 3- This quote describes his passion for the horses and how he truly cares about the horses as if they were people. 
- All our topics address the ability for John Cole to describe his feelings and all of our quotes address major themes of the novel. 
- We focused on themes of love, pain, and passion.

- Agenda Topic 1 We believe that the aunt paid the bail because she was sympathetic of Cole’s actions and believed his Innocence, we believe she felt bad for telling Hector and believed he didn’t deserve it so she agreed to pay the bail. 
- For agenda topic 2 we discussed the troubles this characters undergo and the pressure they feel. We discussed how we believe the fighting between protagonists will lead to internal struggle and lead to greater conflicts for our protagonist John Cole.
- Agenda Topic 3 discusses the relationship of John and Lacey. This is an important relationship because it is very important to the protagonist. John descrjbes how he hasn’t changed but the circumstances have simply changed. He describes how he still cares and hopes they can rekindle their relationship. We believe this will lead to some sort of stronger relationship which will help them go through their trauma together. 
-Overall we discussed how we are not totally enjoying the book through part 3 and we hope the ending is more interesting than what we have read so far.

- Agenda Topic one focuses on John Cole trying to develop his relationship with Alejandra. This is very important because it describes the key theme of relationships and perfecting them which parallels the scene where John Cole and Rawlings are trying to grow their relationship in the jail.
- Agenda Topic One made us think: How will relationships grow or dwindle due to the tense situations in the novel?
-We believe in tense and difficult situations relationships actually grow and will become stronger than ever before. So we think that Lacey and John will get closer and John and Alejandra’s relationship will get much stronger.
- Agenda Topic 2 describes the key theme of religion and how god is watching over them. This made us think to what extent does John Cole blame god for the troubles he went through and how much does he trust god in the end of the novel.
-Agenda Topic 3 describes the terrors of the Mexican-American war. This made us think about how does the tense setting account for the actions of the characters in the novel, and how will the setting cause events in the book?

- We discussed how his mom wants to sell the farm after his grandfathers death. He, however, wants to keep the farm.
- We asked the question How will the death of his grandfather effect him? 
- We believe it effects his mother more than him, because this makes his mom want to sell the ranch which effects John. 
-For agenda topic one, we believe that the idea of blood will be present throughout the novel due to John’s difficult past. Death is surrounding him, his father returns and they start rekindling their relationship but his dad is dying because of lung cancer. Which brings us to another follow up question. How will this death impact him? 
- We believe that the death of his father is scaring him and that’s why he is threatening to run away with his friend. We believe he will run away but we believe he will try and save the horses and take them with him. His passion for the horses is to treat for him to just run away from them. So we believe he will try to run away with some of the horses.
