Le nostre città rischiano di trovarsi di fronte a sfide inattese.
Assistiamo sempre più spesso a fenomeni estremi: siccità per lunghi periodi, come sta avvenendo nel Lazio; precipitazioni che in un giorno possono riversare sul terreno la pioggia di un mese intero; o anche nevicate inusuali a bassa quota come quelle che in questi giorni stanno investendo l'Italia.
Per questo dobbiamo agire velocemente. Insieme alle altre grandi capitali mondiali, Roma ha deciso di impegnarsi in prima linea e a Città del Messico, durante il Convegno C40, ho annunciato che, a partire dal 2024, nel centro della città di Roma sarà vietato l'uso di automobili diesel.
Se vogliamo intervenire seriamente dobbiamo avere il coraggio di adottare misure forti. Bisogna agire sulle cause e non soltanto sugli effetti."
