Despite COVID-19 pandemic causing havoc in global climate change advocacy sectors, ClimateEducate managed to remain more productive than ever. Even though, non-online initiatives were widely limited, ATO-CE kept the spirit of climate change advocacy alive through online initiatives, campaigns and of course, through the use of infographics in social media. I also felt that, more members were active this year, and the legacy of climate change advocacy through ATO-CE will continue to grow and create a positive impact! <3

We all started 2020 without the though it will be this messy. But to the glory of God we were able to achieve alot for the project. 2020 will go down in the history of the project as a year despite its shortcomings we resiliently survive it. We were able to accomplish over 80% of our target goals of the year. Personally i can say we have achieved in this what we could not achieved in previous year. All these successes were achieved through coordination, team work and collective sacrifice of members and volunteers. These are the strength of our project. I will like to use this opportunity to call on all of us to double these efforts in the coming years so as to achieve more.

The year 2020 has lots of things to me as far as ATO-CE project is concerned. This was indeed the year I have engaged well in the project. The situations with the Covid pandemic have been unforgettable events where we hear almost every time a shocking and dispiriting news.

Yes….it was so terrifying; however I don’t know how far it has affected the 2020 planned duties of the ATO-CE’s. But I can guess not too much. In my case it has not significantly affected my proposed volunteric contribution to the ATO-CE. Following the safety measures recommended by WHO I was able to perform most of the activities I initially have developed for my ATO – CE Personal Climate Change Action Plan. Two of the NOI I have facilitated were really accomplished successfully. In the year 2020 I was successful for participating in many of the ATO-CE’s activities through webinar.

Truly speaking the year 2020 was the year where I grasped lots of experiences with regard to climate activism and environmental education. I can’t forget all the capacity building training we were given in a webinar. The good time I spent in every session of ATO-CE webinars, meeting with committee members and project members are actually what I still miss. My inside feel joy when I remember the little efforts I did to the ICCALP, Developing and editing articles for our blog, our activities in the in the CEEN.
I have learned a lot from 2020, and has taken a lots of home take assignment for the year to come (2021).

Wish you happy charismas and New year

But, it will also be a year where we overcame new challenges and put our best efforts to accomplish wonders. This year made me realize that we need to adapt to the difficult situations that come our way (for instance, due to the pandemic, we changed from NOIs to online awareness programs). This year taught us that with strong passion and enthusiasm, we can transform our goals into reality.

Rev'd Masango Roderick Warakula( Zimbabwe)

The year 2020 ushered a new dispensation in how nations relate to each other. We never anticipated that the Covid-19 pandemic would ravage the world with many people dying and others falling sick owing to the Corona Virus.
The pandemic is still at its very high in various parts of the world and continents. For the first time in the millennium the world has witnessed the closing up of boarders and nationalities being forced into lockdown with this uninvited guest.

However, despite this challenge we have remain steadfast and hopeful that soon or later a vaccine would be found. But, at the same time we also have been given time to think seriously about other things such as the call for environmental justice. The world is at threat with extreme weather patterns being witnessed around the globe. On a sad note the world has seen the Amazon in Brazil going in flames. Many countries are hit by cyclones, hurricanes and typhoons. Climate Change has proved to be real and that urgent reaction is needed to be taken by any other person of noble thinking. The threat to human security and sustainability is not something to underestimate. Reality is now knocking some sense to us all that there is no Planet B and that we should act accordingly to protect what we already have jealously.

Being a member of the ATO-CE has allowed me to play a constructive role to try to make sure that the message goes to every level of society within our own countries and beyond. Our NOI programmes have been received with much joy and I hope that come 2021 we will expand our programs to reach out in many parts so that many people are aware of the threat that is before us.
I remain hopeful and my prayer is that come 2021 we will see things differently and we will work as one and that we will recover and usher a new dawn in the livelihood of humanity to respect life and the environment.

Like the other side of the moon, the year 2020 had its hidden part that it did not show to anyone but left few people with speculations given that rumors of the deadly coronavirus were in the air. Then with a sudden and rapid development the world was forced into a new normal to curb the spread of the pandemic. All the while, plans and schedules were ready to be executed by the ATO and Climateducate project team and as you witnessed, dead ends were reached for most of the activities and new approaches were to be adopted. Personally, I got lucky to have my NOI successfully executed after which national lockdown followed restricting further operations.

Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic, I commend the dedication by the team working together and remotely to adopt the new normal. Many organizations got badly disoriented but we have remained standing despite the challenges. In deed 2020 has taught us valuable lessons and at the same time proved to us that we can go far and do greater things despite challenges faced. It basically requires consorted efforts and everyone being there for one another to remind and encourage them where necessary.

I want to thank everyone who played a role in making this year a success, whether directly or indirectly. It could have not been easy to pull through this far with the many tasks in addition to the challenges. I feel honored to be part of the team and I believe in it to do even more in addressing issues of climate change.

I wish every member in this team together and their loved ones happy holidays, until next year when we embark on various task. Thank you.

Interestingly, we all have one common thing 2020 has taught us "Resilience". Amidst a deadly pandemic (Covid19), we live in a new-normal life, we create and innovate and do things differently. From confinement (partial to total lockdown) to social distancing, wearing of masks, working and learning from home etc. Yet, ATO-ClimatEducate was able to continually advocate, educate and protest for climate change through article writing, non-online initiative (NOI) education programs, tree planting etc.
Albeit 2020 was very challenging, we are still grateful for rediscovering our potential as human beings. With a much more optimism, I look forward to what we can do together for planet earth come 2021.

2020? What a dramatic year! And who'd forget it? Except you were transited to another world and just being brought back now! A year that I take the liberty to say; nothing was good in the news. A year that short-circuited programs and left the world to a hassle. A year that was simply screwy.

It was fittingly okay and excusably enough for ATO-ClimatEducate to go blink. But the resilience of the members and their doggedness couldn't let that completely happen. Of course the NOIs at some points were hampered. But activities strived at every slightest chance that there was. If there is anything called resilience, it is ATO-ClimateEducate. And I have really learnt what it means to be resolute with this great team.

I sincerely doff my cap for the wonderful team members I had the rarest privilege to work with. I want to believe that, 2020 is over and completely out with its troubles. 2021 is going to be a step up and a launchpad for ATO-ClimatEducate.

Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year!
