Hello! My name is Aaron. I grew up in Los Angeles, CA and studied at Brandeis University in Waltham MA, not to far from Holyoke! After University, I moved to Ukraine to work as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Peace Corps is an organiztion aimed at fostering world peace and friendship by connecting American volunteers with people who work in other countries. Ukraine's School of Solone #1 invited me to work with them, so now I help teach English in Ukraine!

Some of my interests are reading, playing music, making pottery, cooking, baking, running, and swimming. I started studying Ukrainian a few months ago. Now I understand how hard it must be to learn English! I am very excited to be part of this project between our schools :)

The United States is a diverse country geographically and culturally. We have landscapes from mountains (Appalachians in the East to Rocky and Sierra Nevada in the West) We have a large grassland (mostly farming) called the Great Plains, and several deserts. We are sub-tropical in the far south and temperate in the north. Our Government is a Federal Republic, meaning we have three levels of government; National, State and local. Each has specific powers, but all can unfortunately tax us. The US is a "melting pot" of cultures from other places. We have people of Ukrainian descent as well as Italian, Irish, French, German, Somali, Russian, Mexican and just about everyone else you can think of. My town has a large percentage of Russians, while Holyoke is a mix of Irish, Puerto Rican, Polish and French- Canadian.
We are in Western Massachusetts in the northeast corner, a region known as New England. Our capital is Boston, below
