https://www.google.com/drive/

Google Drive is an online storage service with multiple apps. This tool can be used in both educational and business settings. It offers many components such as Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. There are also other features such as E-mail with calendar, Google Voice, editors for drawing, web site creators, and several other tools. These web based tools are used to create, edit, and share Google documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Several users can share and collaborate on forms in any of the Google Drive tools.

The cost for Google drive is 15 free Gb of storage and all features for free. Other options include $1.99/month for 100Gb storage, $9.99 for 1TB (1000Gb), and up to 30TB for $299/month. Other pricing options are also available as they may change from time to time. Schools may pay different pricing depending on the needs of the individual districts.

Students can be introduced to Google Drive at any grade level. Middle to upper grade level students can benefit from the tools available for group projects and overall class sharing and collaboration. For example, as part of the writing process students can use shared Docs to edit the writing of peers, and receive feedback on their own writing. Also, teachers can proofread and edit students’ work on the docs as well. Collaborative homework can also be facilitated as students can work on a presentation using Slides and give each other feedback. The drawing component is a great feature for group projects, especially Social Studies and Science. Graphic organizers can also be created as part of collaborative brainstorming.

For more information on Google Drive visit www.google.com/drive

Created by: D.
