Eyeball to Eyeball- Closeness

After reading chapter 14: Closeness, I believe Ben Ratliff is trying to define closeness as how two or more musicians learn how to natural play music where it becomes like they are in sync together. Natural is really what Ben is trying to say closeness is truly about. It is like when we learn how to walk, then after how natural walking comes to us. Another way Ben Ratliff could be talking about closeness is when two artist calibrate a song, and they learn how to become in sync with each other to produce a top hit song. After reading the chapter, I agree with Ratliff and what he is trying to example to the readers about the definition. The two music examples I could tell the closeness in the music was when Ben Ratliff talked about Earl Phillips making sense as the drummer on records made by Jimmy Reed and Howlin' Wolf. After listening and reading about Earl Phillips you can tell what Ben is talking about when he says that Earl keeps his closeness to the singers and with the sensitive of the drum sounds he is making. One music example I would use for closeness, would have to be I hate you, I love you by Gnash ft. Olivia O'Brien. The reason behind why I picked this song for closeness is because the voice between the two artist flow so natural together and very close in tone.
