The first time we met  

My brother running 

On field 

Teaching me drills

As we stood together 

Passing the ball to me 

Feeling it in my hands 

Passing yards 

40, 30, 20, 10 yards, Touchdown!

A six year old boy 

Staring at the trophies 

When my brother played 

Looking at my reflection 

Seeing someone i recognized

As we walk down the hallway 

I think of the future 

As i talk to my brother I see it more clearly 

As the season ends 

so does my soul 

Going to the backyard field 

Feeling the grip of the ball

Sprinting out onto the field 

   hearing every breath i take 

 

So when I head out to practice Put my cleats on I close my eyes and picture My best moments as a six year old boy With a passion of joy

Next time we will meet 

Where i can have that feel again

Of the summer hot on my skin 

The ball in my arms

Running to the end zone
