Looks Can Be Deceptive – My Experience Today... by TOMEM FOUNDATION

Me: I met someone today, and during our conversation, he said, 'Please, can I chip in?' The Person: When I first saw you, you came across as someone who’s snobbish, cocky, and doesn’t give an audience to people. I thought others might tiptoe around you so they don’t offend you. Me: I was kind of embarrassed when I heard that because I honestly think I'm a very approachable person. I didn’t realize I might be giving off the wrong impression! 🙈 Me (thinking): Looks can really be deceiving, huh? This reminds me why I never judge people before I actually get to know them. You truly can't judge a book by its cover. 📚✨ Conclusion: So, let’s remember that while first impressions might stick, they’re not always the full picture. We should give ourselves and others the chance to go beyond the surface and truly connect. 😊 What's your take on first impressions? How have they surprised you? Feel free to share!

Honestly, first impressions can be pretty deceiving. I don’t usually judge someone based on how they act towards me at first unless they give off an unwelcoming vibe or something. I like to meet people with a friendly face and an open mind, then gradually figure out the kind of person they are as we get to know each other.

I don’t see anyone as tough or unapproachable to talk to. I prefer to interact first, then form my opinion based on how things go. Once I get a sense of who they are, I either continue the relationship or quietly step back.

People sometimes say I come off as bossy, but I see myself as someone who listens to everyone’s ideas. It’s just that if I have a different take or suggest something else, it’s sometimes seen as me not being open which isn’t the case at all.
