The way it changes my thinking on thanksgiving is that it didn’t always start with humble beginnings. On the contrary, it was very horrible. Betrayal, war, slavery and so much worse. I didn’t expect it to be so bad to the point that even kid’s stories have to modify the story for it to be appropriate for the targeted audience.

I was surprised, for all my life I thought it “The pilgrims and Wampanoags have a big dinner.” I never knew that they betrayed the Wampanoags. But overall it made a lot of sense.

Bad and sad betrayal it makes them doesn’t trust them the turning back on them must be brutal to them and the Wampanoags were Innocent. but the English pilgrims were nice in the first place now they betrayed them

If I told younger me that the pilgrims betrayed the Wampanoags, I would probably think I was lying. I have living all my life thinking they had a feast they actually betrayed them and I thought they were just being nice they were only nice to get the weapons. Overall I loved this text it made me rethink about a lot of stuff.

I all ways thought that the first thanks giving was full of joy and happiness but no it was not. All this started with the Native American and Narragansett’s. I won’t tell the hole story but it was just a big fight and betrayal . It was not full of joy and happiness but sadness and anger.

One big thing was I thought about was if the Wampanoags and the pilgrims little kids made friends, they would see their friends being treated like trash since they were servants.

This story changes my view of Thanksgiving because of the story behind Thanksgiving it told us. The Wampanoags honestly didn’t deserve to be treated badly, and also suffered from a disease. I felt bad. I always thought Thanksgiving was about “spending time with your family.” But now that I read the story behind it, it honestly horrifies me. It was sad, suffering from a disease or not. They even lost half of their community! Its just sad, I dunno what else to say at this point… 😗

It changes my view of thanksgiving because first it didn’t start as a humble beginning like most people think. And most people don’t know about how it even started because most people just think it was peaceful and today is different from the past and most people will just overlook what happened hundreds of years ago. And they didn’t know about the horrible betrayal,war,and slavery and worse that took place even I didn’t expect the creation of thanksgiving was that brutal and i wonder how the Wampanoag felt after getting betrayed they probably hated the European people after that. And even before the betray the European people brought a disease that wiped out half of the Wampanoag people and that’s an even more reason they shouldn’t have trusted the European people.
