TAXPAYER-FUNDED ABORTIONS FOR ILLEGALS

Cody Miranda Mod1

TAXPAYER-FUNDED ABORTIONS FOR ILLEGALS?

An illegal immigrant has been detained and is 15 weeks along and they are releasing her, so she can get an abortion. There are a couple views to this report. Why did she just now after 15 weeks decide to get an abortion? Probably and excuse to get released and out of trouble. There is no urgency be time to have it done now or because she could be working the system to get citizens of the US to pay for. Why should the American taxpayers pay for such a procedure? Abortion was argued for legal purposes that it is a women’s god given right to decide to have an abortion or not, if a guardian is not found she will bel be forced to have the abortion regardless of her god given right. I guess age supersedes god given rights. Which this reasoning won the battle for abortion? it is her body but her we see the god given right taken away and possible be forced to have the abortion.
There are a few issues that ethical and moral issues here even more than I have named like god and abortion. In todays world we are governed by laws with little exception which dictate our moral and ethnical mindset. Maybe they were put into place for ethical or moral reasons but every situation is unique making them just the opposite.

Cody M.

Fox News.
The US Department of the Interior’s new four-year strategic plan calls for maximizing fossil fuel extraction from public lands

The Us Department of Interior has
a 4 year plan to maximize the extraction of fossil fuels and mentions nothing about the impact that it will have on climate change. Clement, once one of the leading scientist on climate change has been moved to accounting and has since become a whistleblower. He has raised the alarm on the different impacts this plan will have on the environment. The fact that the report omits any reference to climate change indicates that they may be planning to ignore it. Along with other federal agencies the Department of Interior has also engaged in scrubbing references to climate change from its websites and several other sources.

One of the ethical issues here is ignoring climate change. Climate change has been a front and center point for the Department of Interior and other agency’s and now it seems that it is being ignored by them and other government agencies. What about the Freedom of Information Act and transparency that the government promises outside of “National Security" and promises made to improve the environment?
Cody Miranda
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/the-us-department-of-the-interior’s-new-four-year-strategic-plan-calls-for-maximizing-fossil-fuel-extraction-from-public-lands/ar-BBFHkTk?li=AA4ZnC&ocid=spartanntp

An unconscious man came into the hospital unconscienced with a high blood alcohol level. He developed low blow pressure. On the man neck was a "Do Not Resuscitate" tattoo. The doctors found themselves in an ethical dilemma at that point and wrote the editor of the New England Journal of Medicine. The experts their said they should adhere to the tattoo and they did. The man worsened and died. Later a social worker found his medical record in Florida confirming he had a 'DNR'.
Cody Miranda
https://health.usnews.com/wellness/health-buzz/articles/2017-12-01/a-man-came-in-with-a-dnr-tattoo-heres-what-his-doctors-did

Synthetic biology and bioengineering: Risks and opportunities

This article talks about new developments in human genome editing, 3D-Printed replacement organs and artificial photosynthesis in the field of bioengineering. Saying with the rapid development in synthetic biology in these areas that it promises to tackle some major challenges in our society. These developments do not just provide global based opportunities but short and long-term risk. Referring to a report that was publish in the open access journal eLife by several experts capturing the attention of a wide range of people such as scholars, security, innovators and industry. Because of the presented risk involved, public acceptance and trust need to be established otherwise if they go about launching such projects it could damage the field of biological engineering. The list of short and long-term risk across a range of sectors:

These are relative over the next five years:

· Artificial photosynthesis and carbon capture for producing biofuels

· Enhanced photosynthesis for agricultural productivity

· Synthetic gene drives

· Human genome editing

· defense agency research in biological engineering

Relevant in next five to ten years:

· Regenerative medicine: 3D printing body parts and tissue engineering –

· Microbiome-based therapies –

· intersection of information security and bio-automation

Long term:

· New makers disrupt pharmaceutical markets

· Platform technologies to address emerging disease pandemics

· Shifting ownership models in biotechnology

The article doesn’t go into detail about specifically what the intentions are I find very exciting do to the wide range of sectors they talk about. Even though no detail was given reading about their concerns with public approval and trust, indicates to me that so far that the problems they are proposing to solve are for the best interest of humanity.

University of Cambridge.
