Indian trade cloth served as attire for royalty, diplomatic gifts, displays on festive occasions and clothing for the populace at rites of passage and other ceremonies. This hanging is dyed using the mordant and resist dyeing technique on cotton cloth. It features a central motif of a large lotus-like pattern with a ribbon, leaves and floral designs.

Artefact: early 19th century I chose this source because it shows the strong maritime trade links between India and Southeast Asia. This source is relevant to the HI question because the traders helped to make Singapore more rich.

I chose this because most people do not know much about European law and order in SIngapore back in the 1890s.

I can infer from this source that in the 1890s, the Europeans had a lot of specially marked places on the map and this provided information during the founding of Singapore. It also provides information for the people who published law and order back in the days.
