The project "Mental Health Matters: Teenage Stress & Anxiety." This project depicts both the 5 digital citizenship competencies and ISTE standards for students. This project is very informative and includes statistics on teenagers and their mental health in schools. This really represents the informed digital competency because the student is demonstrating how to effectively research by providing ethical and accurate sources. The student also says where the information was from which demonstrates how they are respecting the rights of who created and published the information.

The student quotes credible evidence and statistics in order to support her claims in support of affirmative action. She provides insight that is respectful and empathetic to other perspectives and experiences.

The project "Protect the People" focuses on the topic of gun control. It demonstrates the five digital citizenship competencies. It advocates for equal rights for all humans by advocating for gun laws and in the description talking about how lax gun laws lead to dangerous situations especially for students. It treats people with courtesy and doesn't bully because it is simply just stating an opinion but doesn't engage with others or bully. It doesn't steal someone else's property because the creator used photoshop to make this their own. It communicates clearly because you can clearly see the message that they want to ban guns. The graphics are kept simple and to the point so it's clear to understand the intention. Finally, it actively pursues and educational goal by encouraging others to take a stand against gun control.

They connect digitally through the connections they have in the stories they tell about their family history, and the community that they come from. They demonstrated safety, empathy and compassion when listening to each other stories. They found new perspectives through each other, and they supported each other in the production and making of their project.

This point being that we need to protect future generations from gun violence. This is sadly relevant to students today making it inclusive, engaging, informative, and calling for alert. This student creates a video that was balanced between real life stories while also provided facts and data.

I watched the video project called "Pain. Cope. Smoke. Escape." created by student, Zayan I. This project depicts the five digital citizenship competencies in multiple ways. For one, Zayan makes sure to cite all of his sources, and these sources are extremely well-known or reliable. For example, in the video he quotes and references the CDC which is a fantastic organization to being getting information from for this project, and his other sources all end in ".gov" as well which is a sign that they are much more reliable sites. Another way that this project represented the digital citizenship competencies is through this project being a "call for change." He wanted to use his project to inform others on this worldwide problem and provide his audience with resources like addiction hotlines to make real change. This project is also inclusive as it takes into account the different experiences people may have with addiction and Zayan even shared his personal story, opening up about his father's addiction to cigarettes. This can create a more comfortable and welcoming environment for impactful conversation, which falls under multiple digital citizenship competencies.

I watched the video "communication" by Selena G. explaining the importance of communication and how it can lead to healthy relationships with anyone. This relates to the 5 Digital Citizenships because 1. Inclusive- relates to anyone who needs to understand the importance of communication, everyone communicates so everyone should learn why it is very much needed 2. Informed- the student informed her audience on the importance of communication 3. engaged- some ways the students work could be engaging are the pictures shown to help them engage with the video more and stay interested 4. Balanced- this video shows balance by providing information that you need to communicate both on and off screen in order to maintain healthy stable relationships with the people in your life 5. Alert- after watching this video, audience can now be alert on why not communicating can lead to terrible misunderstandings and bad relationships.

This is a very inclusive platform which allows girls to start being vocally active online appropriately and affectively.

This is just one of the many media projects that depict and show the 5 Competencies. Which also of course goes hand in hand with the ISTE Student Standards. It ties all of those in while asking the questions, "what makes you you? What events, memories or lessons have changed you into the person you are today." She made a media friendly platform. to. help others like her. KQED Youth Media Challenge is a wonderful project.
