2) Why is it important?

- Trees provide us with oxygen :) They absorb carbon dioxide during photosynthesis. 
- Children love trees and their environment especially since they grew up around them. 
- Singapore is known as a garden city because we have beautiful trees everywhere. Therefore, we should protect and preserve mother nature. 

3) How can we teach children?

- We can introduce songs/rhymes/storybooks/cartoons for them to sing/listen/watch/read.

3) A way to teach the children about this issue is to teach them the concept of recycle. An activity that can be conducted is by letting the children sort out trash and recyclable items. - The water that we drink is affected by water pollution. If the water is dirty, it’ll be harder to filter and could potentially be unsafe to drink.
- If water is polluted, when it evaporates, rain would be dirty or even acidic 
- Water pollution also affects marine life - species might lose their habitat and potentially go extinct 
- Fishes that we eat may consume pollution such as trash which indirectly affects us as consumers.

- Educators will be bringing a tank of water filled with rubbish (bottles, plastic bags, empty chip bags etc)
- The teacher (or an appointed student) will be using a toy fish to “pretend” that the toy fish is consuming the trash.
- Children will have a different toy fish filled with different trash. They also described the bean seeds by looking at and touching them. 
2) Yes, the teacher did use the constructivist approach well as he was able to use the bean seeds to capture their interest. Afterwards, he gave them ample time to touch the bean seeds. The teacher also asked them several questions and introduced to them the root of the seedling; bringing up several discussions.
3) One thing we would do differently is allow the children to participate in a take-home activity. They can bring home bean seeds and water them. 2. despite his constant questioning, there was not enough interactions between the teacher and the children. he ended up speaking for the most part and did not hear out what the children thought. it also seemed like the children were not interested in the topic.

However, it was difficult for the children to see the bean as the teacher’s fingers were too big. The teacher did not effectively connect the children as he tended to talk to the children nearer to him, not engaging the children at the end of the table. The children had some interest at the start, but it slowly faded as the lesson went on, probably due to the teacher’s lack of enthusiasm. There was no experimentation as the children just looked at the bean and touched it. There was no cooperation between the children as they were each having their own personal conversations with their friends and were distracted.

3) Before the teacher gives the children the green beans, he should set some ground rules for them. For example, no putting the beans in their mouth. Show more enthusiasm on the topic, and engage all the children at the table by talking to each of them.
