The background and base of the instruments are water color while the details/lines in the instruments and figures with their surrounding bubbles are acrylic. The music that I did based this off of is around 7 minutes. The piece is based of the general overview of it but still focusing on specific parts of the music

I mixed different colors using different amounts of red and green and layered designs, as I saw a building or a castle when I first got the piece. Besides that I really didn't have a plan except to just keep painting like Mrs. Stevenson suggested. I ended up putting the castle like building back to white, a decision you'll see in the next photo.

Media(s): Acrylic Paint, Quilling Technique and Pieces(paper and glue) on canvas

Reflection: As for the grid, I usually don't look at the grid and categorize my art until after I complete it or sometimes I do but then it changes and doesn't completely follow the four goals/areas. For this specific project, I really wasn't concerned about the grid as I just focused on something that the previous project inspired. I have a love for harps, they are beautiful and since I had previously doodled one idea related in my free time, I decided to base my project off that concept: a heart shaped harp. For question number two of the reflection, I learned how true things were that I already knew. For example, the background should have been done before the subject to fill the tiny gaps left by the paper that makes up the harp. Also, acrylic dries really fast, therefore making it hard to blend. However, I will try to be more thoughtful about order, but sometimes things need to be done a different way to turn out the way they do, this piece in particular. So while it was frustrating blending the background and repainting part of the paper to match it's original colors, it was a good thing I did things the way I did them, because artist's decisions are always changing which would have resulted in a different composition or other choices for this project.

Media(s): A discarded project by another artist, Acrylic on Canvas.

Stage 2 and Stage 3
Stage 2 was to incorporate collage elements with out it being so obvious that it was a part of a magazine to such. The collage was two pieces of black/teal with white dots. I incorporated these two pieces into the sky and contused to the pattern to cover the whole sky.
For stage 3 I just continued painting over things layering and changing colors until I found a composition where the colors were in places that I felt were right. I believe I just continued using mostly the same colors as I did in the beginning, especially changing the castle like building back to white along with giving it building elements like windows and a balcony. Bringing the castle shaped subject back to white with refining it was my strongest compositional decision as it brought the piece together with the other previous decisions I made like the sky. It's a lot less busy then the other photo and comes together more, despite being more traditional then abstract.

Media(s): Acrylic Paint on canvas

Reflection Question #1: I didn't really pay much attention to the grid or pick four areas off of it. I kinda just went with an idea in my sketchbook of en eye crying then I added a waterfall and then I got the idea to make it centered around more earthy elements. I tried working on the Idea with marker Downtown that day but it didn't go so well so I decided to focus on the idea for my next independent project and while paint is a challenge and can frustrating to me I also somewhat like it. So I decided to go for it. I actually had to change things.
Reflection Question #2: I talked about this in the question above but I'll talk about it for this question too. Usually when I am in the process of doing a project I think about a decision before I decide on it ( I think), this time I decided on something went with it and didn't like it. I changed my decision and went with another idea for a certain area of the project, which is why near the left you can see the difference between the blues in the arch under the cloud eyebrow. Luckily from previous knowledge, acrylic is a paint that you can just paint over another layer. So I did that. It's ok to not always like a creative decision you made, and there is usually a way to change it or hide it.
Reflection #3: I think two areas to look at for evaluation are my technique/clean lines and depth/ dimension as ell as effectively portraying cvonceptualness. Since I didn't really think about goals from the grid and kinda just wanted to improve on maybe long term goals like technique and creative concept. For these questions, I just talked about parts of my experience.

Final Picture: Anatomy Project Piece and Anatomy Project Reflection

Media: Strathmore Artagain Drawing Paper (Coal Black), Pencil, Colored Pencils, Colored Pencil Blenders (marker and pencil).

Reflection -Explaining my Idea: For this Project we were given two anatomy cards that were focused on a structure, part of a system of the human body. My two cards were part of the Skeletal System particularly structures and views of Axial Skeleton. The first card shows particularly the Vertebral Column and The Thoracic Vertebrae, This card is the card I used the most. The second card was just another view of part of the Vertebral column, it influenced the spinal part of the stand but overall, it really aunt included much. I took the enlarged image of the Thoracic vertebrae and next to the smaller image of the Vertebral Column and thought that the Thoracic looks like a base and the column looks like is attached to the bae like a stand. Before this I researched terms to serif I could find some inspiration and I did. The word "axial" which is related to "axis" got me thinking of something on it's axis, one of my ideas included the brain, but the color scheme would be too similar to the enlarged Vertebrae I was gonna draw for the stand, so I went with my other idea, Earth. I decided that it was gonna be similar to a globe on a stand (vertebral things), After having a brief issue with loosing the first version of the project that I started, but didn't like the way it was turning out, I went to Michael's to try to get similar black paper to sheet I originally practiced on, (and a colorless pencil blender), as I liked how the colored pencils worked with it. I looked at "Axis" Earth related images and settled on one that was more real and less like a map based globe, and more on an image of Earth that was satellite taken, (see Earth reference image). I liked ones more not shown on a super obvious axis view, and I found one where the contents were a little axis based but not so much that the whole sphere looked so angled towards an axis. I choose black paper because it would be more time efficient and show colors pencils differently then white paper would. I also did it so the background could be in like a space like place. After, I had ideas but wasn't 100% certain and then just went with an orbiting galaxy surrounding Earth with stars incorporated important words about ideas and possibilities. I did slow down ( a bit!), and think about some or most of the decisions I was making, but I just went with them. That's kind of an overall summary of my ideas for this project.

Question #1: What are your most significant areas of artistic growth?
I don't know if I grew that much during this semester alone, but this being my last semester of Drawing & Painting class at Barrington High School, I have grown so much over the past 4 years, as every semester I was in a Drawing and Painting Class and it's one of the best decisions I've made in High School. I learned so much from this class, things take patience, improving my techniques, experiencing new medias and expanding my use of medias, even starting to try to paint more even though I was very unsure about paint and sometimes even frustrated, and sometimes I still am sometimes, but I have learned a lot in some ways that I might not even realize yet, along with techniques and media experiences, I have gained a sense of more maturity somewhat anyway, which is awesome. If I went on even more this would get way longer then it already is.

Question #2: What artistic struggles did you learn from? This goes along with the first one, but I have struggled with time usage and deadlines, something I still struggled with, but at least in art class, I have become more focused getting closer to completing more things on time or around the time of the deadline, which I hope I continue to grow in and expand to my other subjects well in college and life. It's ok to take beaks as long as it doesn't turn into procrastination and/or avoidance. I also have learn from my continued struggle with patience, something that's important in art and many things. I also struggled and maybe still struggle with artistic choices and going ahead and doing something even if your unsure of the results, its how you learn, not every piece will be amazing some worse/better then others. If you don't like how something sometimes you can't cover it up and change it and sometimes you can only change it a bit and thats the way it is. Still struggling a little with that maybe. There is more but I'm gonna move on to the next question.

Question #3: As you pursue art for pleasure or maybe even as a future career, what subjects or new approaches would you like to try?

I am planning to pursue an art related carrier, most likely a fashion/industrial or just a designer, or a high school art teacher. I would love to the first one but the second option is great too. As for subjects/ new approaches I would like to try, I would like to continue growing in multiple medias, even ones that are unfamiliar and kind of intimidating like oil paint. I also really want to learn how to draw people more so I can stop using reference photos all the time, so I can draw figures that are my own when designing, I also perhaps would like to explore different ways of using medias, and continue to find my own style and process related things. Especially for what I mentioned above about designing and drawing figures and people. I also would love to try the ink technique that can dance was doing for her last project.
