Acquire the white mans heavy load-
Send the best children-
Go chain your sons to being barred from their country
To get what your captives need;
To wait, in heavy stress,
On confused and chaotic people-
Your prisoners mad and gloomy,
Half bad and half good.
Acquire the white mans heavy load-
with patience and acceptence,
To cover the threat of terror
And check someone showing pride;
By openly talking and simply talking,
One hundred times made clear,
To get anothers pay
and work another's job.

1. A burden is the amount of responsibility one has. An example is having to take care of other people.

2, Kipling views the people being imperialized as taking over the white mans responsibilities. I think he is correct, because they become part of the country with the same responsibilities. I think he describes imperialized people like this because he believes that the responsibilities being forced upon them is bad.

3. I would characterize Kiplings views on imperialism as disliking it. I agree, because the more people there are, the more you have to invest inthem.

4. The white mans burden was needing to take care of so many people as they expand and become a global power.

This political cartoon depicts Uncle Sam holding onto the whole world. It shows how it is too much for him to handle, but he will not let go no matter what. This criticizes imperialism by showing America as greedy and being a bully to all other countries.

Was American Imperialism around the turn of the century justified?

American Imperialism could only be justified in certain cases around the turn of the century. When the U.S helped Cuba against Spanish rule, it was justified. We lended a helping hand when they needed it, but didn't conquer the land. But, during the Philippine-American war imperialism was not justified. The U.S conquered the land and killed many of the native people, rather than helping them against Spanish rule. This is why American Imperialism can only be justified in certain cases.
