They should be able to analyze readings, and write coherently on a topic.

The transition from regular World I is not easy. Students should have an A in regular World I before considering moving to honors World II.

Students need strong reading and writing skills, an be an independent learner. Students should not need frequent retakes of assessments in order to be passing the class.

Part of being a freshman includes figuring out how to navigate high school, and AP World is challenging for those who know how to do it--it would be too much for a freshman, no matter how gifted.

APUSH is focused on detail as opposed to the broader focus of AP World. AP World is a mile wide and a foot deep, while APUSH is a foot wide and a mile deep. It has a significant workload that requires a significant time commitment, and while the skills are challenging, the most challenging part for most students is time management and fitting the workload into their other classes. Students who have not had much experience with writing tend to struggle. Students who are self-motivated, like history, and like to read and write are the best candidates.
